On Inspiration and Creativity (We Are Receivers)

When it comes to creativity, showing up is crucial. The simple act of being present at the page (blank or not)—or the canvas or stage, or whatever the medium may be—is a catalyst that incites the momentum of creation. Trust is important, and allowing is key. This means trusting ourselves to mould and shape the clay of raw materials, and allowing ourselves to have fun in the process. It also means allowing ourselves the time to play and explore.

Just showing up, in and of itself, is work. It’s part of the process.

When we do the work of showing up, creativity shows up for us. Put in another way, we allow creative inspiration and ideas to come to us when we set the intention, and set the stage, for them. Opening a blank page or setting a new canvas on the easel is an open invitation to creativity. It is an act of intention that says, “Here I am, I’m ready. Let me be a vessel for what wants to come through.” When we consider that we are a physical manifestation of source energy, and that we each have a source that is flowing well-being to us at all times, as Abraham-Hicks teaches, then when we get into the receiving mode, or the energy of allowing, we open the valve for creative inspiration and the beautiful manifestation of ideas to flow to us.

It’s helpful to release any expectations about the outcome, and certainly any anxieties. We honor the creative process when we just let it flow where it wants to flow. We can always rewrite or paint over or rework the creation in question to our heart’s content. When it comes to something like writing music, for example, we allow the song to be the best it can be when we let it flow naturally without forcing it. If the next chord sounds like it should be A but we had in mind to make it B, we can block or stifle the process by forcing it to be what it isn’t or steering it in a direction that is counter to where it would naturally flow. It’s about honoring the path of least resistance.

When we trust the creative piece itself, the process—and, it must be said, ourselves—to receive what is there for the receiving, that’s where the magic happens. We are receivers. When we tune in, when we show up, it’s like tuning the radio to a certain station so it can receive the music that is floating across the airwaves. How many times have you had an idea, but abandoned it or didn’t move forward with it at all, only to see that same idea crop up elsewhere, brought to life by the hand of some other artist? This ties into the concept of the collective consciousness. When we tune into creativity, we are allowing ourselves to be receivers for what is out there in the ethers, just waiting to find a vessel to manifest them. Ideas—songs, stories, and works of art in whatever form they may take—have a life of their own.

The thing about ideas, though, is that they’re not always convenient. Some of the best ideas can arrive at the most inopportune times. We may be in the receiving mode when we’re driving, but that doesn’t exactly make it an ideal time to record those ideas. But we have a duty to them, to honor them by being prepared or carrying them in our minds until we can write them down, sketch them, or what-have-you. Preparedness is helpful. Carrying a recording device (this could be your phone, via a recording app) or a small notebook and writing instrument can help ensure our ideas are not lost. When we honor our ideas—or you could say, the ideas we receive—we can bring forth some truly noteworthy creations.

As the eighteenth day of the first month, today brings energies of manifesting financial abundance and new opportunities that can lead to increased prosperity. The new developments coming about now are helping to usher out the old and anything that is not working for us. Allowing yourself to tune into positive expectation, excitement, interest, and hope can encourage new ideas that can lead to improved manifested states. We are guided, as always, to stay positive in our thinking.

Adding up all of the numbers in today’s date brings us fifteen and six. We can expect to see energetic improvements through change and expansion. We may also have the growing sense that positive changes are just on the horizon and are encouraged to lean into those feelings, as they are evidence of things unseen coming into being. We may be growing in our awareness and experiencing further spiritual growth, development, and expansion, especially if we are putting in the work. This can be through reading, meditation, and anything we are doing to nurture and develop our spirituality. We are asked to continue using discernment when tuning into any information, as there many different sources of information that are of higher and lower frequencies, and that are more or less aligned to the truth. Developing a keen sense of intuition takes time, patience, and practice, but is well worth the effort it takes to strengthen it. We are divinely supported in our intentions to improve on all levels.

Mantra: I welcome abundance and new opportunities that are aligned with my highest good. It is easy for me to focus on the positive.

Today is the third day of the twelfth month. Three carries energies of community, celebrations, manifestation, the prosperous results of collaborations, and fruitful partnerships. Three also relates to joy, inspiration, freedom, happiness, fun, and enthusiasm. We are guided to do what we can to embrace and embody these energies and to allow ourselves to rise up into these elevated emotions so that we can experience higher states of being. In this way, we also impact the energies of those around us. However, each person is responsible for their own state of being and their own emotions. Regardless of the emotional states of those around us, we can always take ownership of our own emotional state of being and choose joy and love above all.

Adding up all of the numbers in today’s date yields ten, and one. Where ten represents the end of a cycle, one indicates new beginnings and opportunities that may lead us down new paths. These changes are for the positive, and we allow more of what is good to flow to us when we release resistance and open up to the path ahead. Flowing into what comes next while directing our focus and attention to where we want to go and our desired state of living and being is a way of making the best use of the energies at hand to shape our reality. Allowing things to manifest in their own time and honoring divine timing may be important, as is continuing to believe in what we desire, and knowing when to release it to the universe. One is also a number of focus and determination, and reminds us to set goals for the path ahead so that we can embrace the fresh starts, opportunities, and newly developing manifestations to shape them with our focus, according to our desires.

We are guided to continue clearing our path this month. Doing this a little each day will help us prepare for the new year ahead. Spending a little time each day considering what energetic debris lies on your path and what you can clear to make room for joy and abundance may serve you well. Surrounding the energetic debris with light in visualizations can help transmute it. Feeling through the emotions that accompany it may be necessary to allow it to release; as you release emotionally, you can give those emotions to the universe and to your allies to be transmuted and ask for your own healing, then visualize yourself surrounded with golden healing light. Even what feels like small efforts amount to something substantial and potentially life-changing over time. We are always changing, always growing, always loved and supported in all that we do.

Mantra: I greet this day with an open heart and welcome joy and love. I release and transmute what does not serve me and invite light to take its place.
