Trusting the Process

Imagine you’re driving down a road at night. The only illumination is coming from your headlights, and beyond that, the rest is a mystery, shrouded in darkness. You trust that the road continues beyond what you can see, so you keep driving, the guidelines painted on the road snaking off endlessly into the hidden distance.

The healing journey is a little bit like that, and so is life. We keep going, because we trust that there will be a next thing, and a next, that we won’t suddenly cease to exist or fall off into planar nothingness. The healing journey is ours to navigate. It’s important that we trust the guideposts to show us the way. In order to see them, though, we must be paying attention.

Doing the work sometimes means navigating through darkness. Sometimes our only light comes from within, but our inner light is the brightest light of all. Once we uncover it, we remember who we are; we remember our truth. We may reach a point where we decide that we want to discard everything that covers up that light. Through a process of healing, clearing, and releasing—one layer at a time—we discover how brightly we can really shine.

As long as we keep moving and keep desiring to heal and grow, we will. No matter how blocked off we are or how deep our pain, we can reach that heart-opened place of allowing where the answers flow to us and the guideposts light up like beacons. Where we flow easily in alignment with our higher self and receive our highest guidance as naturally as we inhale breath into our lungs.

The more we trust, the more we let go of our grip and relax the need to control outcomes. That’s when things start to come together. Great ideas flow to us, solutions spring up in our path, and we realize suddenly how far we have come. We look back on the times we leaned into trust and flowed with the process, and understand that it led us to exactly where we needed to be.

Today is the sixteenth day of the twelfth month. Sixteen asks us to stay focused on the positive and to maintain faith, trust, and belief in ourselves and in what we wish to create. It can also bring new beginnings and renewal in the realms of home and family. We may see positive forward progress in our close relationships. Today carries aspects of working together to co-create with family, friends, partners, and business associates in a way that has the potential to yield transformative results. There is also a positive momentum available to us that we can build through our focus on the positive and through allowing ourselves to authentically experience high-vibrational emotions such as joy, excitement, and enthusiasm. Where the one and six create seven, there is also an aspect of learning, wisdom, and a growing depth of spiritual understanding. We are asked to tune into our intuition and heed our inner knowing.

Adding up all of the numbers in today’s date brings us fourteen, and five. Today may contain events that act as a catalyst for positive change, expansion, growth, and forward momentum. We may be growing in our awareness of the positive potential of change that is currently contained within our lives and that is flowing to us. We may be able to more readily ascertain the positive aspects of new developments that are becoming apparent now. Today could bring shifts in perspective. Allowing ourselves to receive new information, knowledge, and wisdom can help us in manifesting stronger foundations in our lives, both spiritually and materially. Flowing with changes is highlighted now, as is knowing when to take the path of least resistance and when to say no and course-correct. There are energies of The Chariot at play now, and this is the seventh card in the the Major Arcana of the tarot; changes are flowing to us rapidly. We are all in the midst of great change and upheaval that is necessary for our betterment; remembering that these changes are transformative and are happening for our highest good can be helpful. We are asked to know when to stay on our path and when to take a new direction by tuning into our highest guidance and our inner knowing.

Mantra: I attune to my inner wisdom, divine knowledge, and intuition to guide me. I always see and perceive with perfect clarity and understanding. All is working out according to my highest good.

Today is the ninth day of the month, and nines are associated with endings, lightworking, destiny, soul purpose, life mission, wisdom, leadership, and a higher perspective.

Adding together all digits in today’s date gives us 5 (10 + 9 + 2020 = 14; 1 + 4 = 5). Fives are associated with change, life lessons, activity, progress, freedom, and choices. The influences of five and nine together indicate choices in the face of endings; questions might arise as to how to best proceed—where to go from here, now that something has run its course? Looking within and trusting your intuition and inner wisdom and guidance will provide the answers you seek. Spending time in contemplation is beneficial, as is calling on the highest divine guidance for wisdom and support.

Using Tarot to Deepen Your Spiritual Connection

Tarot is a wonderful tool for understanding ourselves and the world in which we live, work, and play. We can use it for guidance on any conceivable subject. While I am a firm believer that it should be approached with trust and respect, we can use it to consult on anything that genuinely matters to us and for more general guidance in a given situation. It can help us to navigate with confidence and from a place of understanding the energies that are to come in the days and weeks ahead. In this way, it helps us to better prepare for what is on its way and to make any necessary adjustments.

Now more than ever, we have time to sit with our thoughts, to examine our lives, and consider where making changes would benefit us. Many of us have the opportunity to connect with ourselves and with our spirituality on deeper levels than perhaps ever before. There are many ways to strengthen our spiritual connection, including systems, beliefs, and practices that we may find beneficial to varying degrees. Meditation and yoga can help us practice mindfulness, center our thoughts and being-ness, and open to receive messages, guidance, and wisdom from the divine.

The beauty of using tarot to deepen that connection is that we can ask a question and receive an immediate answer, albeit one we may need to sit with for a while to fully comprehend. Tarot is a medium through which we can tap into understanding and wisdom that is only as limited as our capacity for interpretation. Best of all, when we approach the cards with reverence, trust, and from a centered state in which we intend to receive guidance that is for our highest good or to receive messages from the divine, our guides, or allies, we can connect with energies linked to source and draw from the well of infinite intelligence.

There are so many questions we can ask, depending on our needs and situation, that can help us strengthen our connection to source, our allies, the higher self, and to our own spirituality and intuition. Some of those might be, What guidance is available to me? How can I deepen my connection to source/my allies/my higher self/my intuition? How can I strengthen my trust? Tarot’s strength is in its versatility, which allows it to speak to us on many levels throughout our lives. Because it is based on archetypes that speak to the whole of human experience, it is a guiding light we can turn to anytime we need it.

Tuning into Tarot

Tuning into the messages the cards have for us is a lot like tuning into our internal guidance system. With practice, you develop a certain level of trust for the messages you are receiving. Over time, you learn to intuit the wisdom particular cards have to impart, sifting through the possible messages and interpretations and meanings each card holds with greater ease and clarity, gleaning the particular wisdom it holds for you, on this day, in this specific moment.

Over time, it becomes easier to pull those amorphous filaments from the air, the often-fleeting images, ideas, memories, snippets of conversation, long-ago lines now remembered, and to understand what wisdom they hold, what teachings they may impart.

Quieting the mind helps with this, as it mutes and dims the stream of mental chatter, the endless anxieties and to-do lists, bringing to the fore what really matters–the voice within, the nudge of guidance that brings wisdom. This is one reason so many of us begin the day with a moment of silence, whether that is sitting in meditation or enjoying a few quiet moments sipping from a warm mug as the morning sun makes its debut along the horizon.

It is in the quiet moments that the bright tone that sings so clear and true rings out its resonance across the whole of the day ahead.
