September: A Reading for the Collective

September brings exciting new beginnings as both fresh and long-awaited manifestations are coming into being. New partnerships and collaborations, as well as joyful celebrations with friends and community are all an important part of this month. Read on to find out what each week has in store for us, and for the guidance and overall energy that will carry us through the weeks ahead.

Q1: What is the overall energy of September? Page of Wands

The Page of Wands shows us learning to wield our power in new ways. We may be focusing on specific manifestations this month. Remembering that where thoughts go, energy flows can be useful, especially in light of the fact that what we think about informs our vibration, which in turn attracts more of the same to us. As Wands are associated with the element of fire, this suit is connected to our passion. What are you passionate about and what steps do you feel motivated to take? Paying attention to what feels good, what thrills you, can provide an indication of your next steps. This Page also indicates new beginnings and fresh starts. You may see new relationships, career-related goals, things, and circumstances that you’ve long wished for begin to show up this month. Watch as the seeds you planted, some long ago and some recently, begin to sprout. Be open to learning new things and to new possibilities. You are gaining footing in new and significant areas of your life.

Q2: Week 1 energy: Seven of Swords

A tarot reader once described this card to me as having a vacillating energy that can appear sometimes when we are caught up in indecision or when we are waffling back and forth. If you find yourself in that energy, it is important to really tune in and pay attention to your inner guidance as you lean into trusting yourself more. Watch for situations that show you areas of weakness, either in your thinking, emotions, or in your self-confidence. Believing in yourself and moving forward with inner strength, determination, and in the knowing of your worthiness brings you closer to your true inner power. Remember that you are a divine, magnificent being. You are truly powerful, and knowing your true inner strength and power opens up a world of possibilities. Life offers us a great palette of choices, and it is up to us what we choose to paint. Paying attention to what feels good can be helpful as you navigate choices; your emotional guidance system, as Abraham-Hicks refers to it, is a built-in mechanism that shows you which way to go.

Q3: Week 2 energy: Two of Cups

The Two of Cups points to emotional partnerships. This can be the co-creative partnership between you and your higher self. It can also indicate fruitful connections and emotional relationships between significant others, friends, family, co-workers, and employers. For some of you, a new job or career advancement may be on the horizon. New relationships are developing and existing ones are growing and reaching new levels. Nurturing relationships and connections is always beneficial, but especially so this week. Bonds are strengthening and deep healing may be taking place between you and others, especially in your emotional connections to one another. Honor those in your life simply by feeling into gratitude for the relationship, and that energy will not only be felt by the other, it will also be returned to you and will strengthen the energies between you.

Q4: Week 3 energy: Temperance

Be wise and practice discernment in all that you do. Connecting to your intuition and holding the intention of achieving a state of harmony will support you this week. Foster harmonious relationships by first embodying harmony in your thinking, and peace will follow. Practice patience with others and redirect your thoughts and energy toward compassion if you catch yourself in a judgmental space. Unity consciousness is important, and remembering that we all are one can be powerful; as each one of us is part of the collective, what one of us experiences is felt by all on some level. Reach for kindness and cooperation in your dealings with others, and be kind to yourself. Happy resolutions to long-stagnant situations may pleasantly surprise you. Look within this week and notice where inner growth is needed. Self-awareness is key as you navigate through life; notice where life is showing you opportunities for growth as you set your ego aside and make the decision to elevate your thinking and vibration, taking it moment by moment, situation by situation. As the number 14 card in the Major Arcana, Temperance is aligned with the creation of solid foundations: the number one indicates new beginnings and manifestations, and four carries the energies of strength, solidity, stability, and groundedness; by embodying harmony and peace, we create the outward manifestation of these, which sets us on solid ground and establishes strong foundations for our future.

Q5: Week 4 energy: Three of Cups

The Three of Cups has a celebratory energy that builds on the partnership energies of the Two of Cups from week 2, and on the energies of harmony and cooperation from week 3. This feels like a culmination of positive momentum that has been building throughout the month and reaches a happy fulfillment of celebratory energy and harmonious resolutions. This week ushers in fall in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern Hemisphere, and celebrations and gatherings are highlighted. Community, friends, family, and joyful collaborations are a significant part of this week. It is important to make time for happiness and fun, and allow yourself to enjoy the feelings of fulfillment. Soak in the nurturing energies of emotional warmth and joy, and allow them to strengthen and elevate your vibration. The more you raise your vibration, the higher you can soar.

Q6: Guidance from the Universe for September: King of Pentacles

The King of Pentacles carries the energies of power, strength, and material success. Much like the numerological interpretation of Temperance, this king also indicates solidity and stability. This is a very fortunate card to draw, and it informs the entire month of September. As the guidance card for the month, it encourages us to embody the energies and mindset this king represents. Embodiment of those energies can manifest in a variety of ways, whether that is practicing gratitude for job security, focusing on your leadership abilities, knowing that you are capable of manifesting wealth and financial security, appreciating figures of support in your life, or knowing your own strength. This card can also encourage us to take the long view and consider where investing in our future now might pay dividends later. As seeds are starting to sprout, start considering now the most fruitful outcomes and think about the highest and best possibilities for all that is becoming.

For the Collective: A Reading for Right Now

This reading is all about about manifestation, about creating what it is we desire, about constantly moving toward what we want and away from what we don’t. It is about focusing our thoughts and standing strong in our beliefs and in our knowing of who we are and in the unequivocal understanding of our own true power so that we can manifest our desired results.

It’s interesting that the first card to fall out for this spread represents the current moon phase, indicating that what follows is significant to the collective for the energies as they are right now. The first thing that strikes me about these cards is all of the generative energy—not just the Page of Wands and the Knight of Wands, but also The Magician holding his wand and the Page of Swords wielding his sword. This speaks to new beginnings as well as manifestation, which starts with our thoughts and beliefs.

Read from the top row, left to right, this current phase is one in which we are learning to use our willpower, learning how to be better creators of our own reality. These energies are represented by the Page of Wands—who is blindfolded, looking inward and trusting his instincts as he ventures into the brave unknown of creating and manifesting in his world. He leads to the Knight of Wands, who brings good news, perhaps regarding manifestations coming into being and new opportunities, and the Three of Wands, which signifies manifestation, dreams becoming reality, developing goals and seeing them manifest in the physical realm. Two of the wands on this card are, significantly, set apart together on the right side of the card, symbolizing the co-creative partnership between you and your inner being, which brings about a physical manifestation, represented by the third wand on the left side of the card.

On the bottom row, the Page of Swords has the skills he needs to succeed but he is still learning how to implement that knowledge in the real world. This page encourages us to set goals, branch out, and test ourselves by learning new things and thinking in fresh and different ways, approaching what we do with new methodologies and applying them on a practical level. It could also indicate beginning a new career or project that has to do with ideas and communication. This card encourages us to learn as much as we can, to study and gain practical knowledge as well as wisdom, and put those skills and new knowledge to use to give us the greatest chances for success. The sword represents thought and focus, and in regards to manifestation, focused thought is key.

Focusing only on what we want brings about the desired results, as The Magician knows. He wields his wand with confidence, looking toward his goals, knowing that he is manifesting them. He reminds us that confidence is key in bringing about our desired results. Where the page above him is just learning how manifest, The Magician is the more experienced and mature version that the page will ultimately become. This master manifestor is significantly positioned beneath the page, supporting him much like our higher selves support us.

The King of Cups is in touch with his emotions. He is inward-looking like the Page of Wands, but he is the still more mature version, the page all grown up. This king is thoughtful, wise, and loving. He can represent a supportive figure in our lives or he can be a symbolic archetype, urging us to master our emotions, not letting them overwhelm us, but rather encouraging us to take a deep dive into our emotional terrain to fully understand and process and work through everything it is that we are feeling, to clear out and release what doesn’t belong, what is holding us back, and to get in touch with our emotions and our emotional guidance system so we understand that when we are feeling negative emotions, it is an indicator that we need to recalibrate—possibly by exploring and clearing old beliefs and energies and always to get into alignment with our all-knowing inner being.

In this way, we can navigate our thoughts and our emotions, releasing ourselves from limiting beliefs, which are represented by The Eight of Swords. This card shows us in a prison of our own making, the imprisonment of self-imposed beliefs and thoughts that constrain us, that keep us from moving forward and manifesting our desires. It is significant that this eight appears under the Three of Wands, an indicator that we are blocking our manifestations with resistant beliefs.

This reading indicates a progression, a journey of manifestation. We start off blindfolded, feeling our way through life, then at some point, for some of us, the blindfold is removed and we face things head-on, as the Knight of Wands is here looking directly outward, facing the audience, as it were. In the next step of this progression, we begin looking toward what we want to create in our reality, as here, the Page of Swords looks toward The Magician as he learns and gains wisdom and begins to manifest with ease, and The Magician in turn looks toward the older, more experienced King of Cups, who understands that emotions are everything. The King of Cups is who we become when we reach maturity as truly masterful manifestors. This king knows that we get what we feel; we attract what we are vibrating at, limited only by our thoughts and beliefs. The goal as powerful creators of our own reality is to be unlimited, or rather, to realize that we already are unlimited, and to break free from the thought-prisons of our own making, to release ourselves from the self-imposed constraints of our own beliefs.

Abraham-Hicks teaches that there are two ways to go about manifesting something—the hard way and the easy way. The former is accomplished by hard work and effort, which is slow going, often exhausting, and brings about minimal results. The easy way is to let go of all resistance in the form of self-limiting beliefs and thinking along the lines of we don’t deserve something or we can’t have it or it’s beyond our reach, and fully trusting, fully knowing, fully believing, and fully allowing everything that we want, being 100% in receiving mode. This state of complete allowing lets everything we want to flow to us.

Because we create our own realities, we get what we believe; we get what we focus on. When we free ourselves from self-limiting beliefs by truly knowing our own power, understanding that we are creators and divine, remembering that we are one of One, that we create our own realities, and stand strong and true in that knowledge, we manifest whatever it is we are focusing on, whatever that may be.
