As we begin a new year with a clean slate and set intentions for the days ahead, we are supported in our desires. This month sees the seeds we have planted gathering momentum for the manifestation of wonderful opportunities, collaborations, and partnerships. Setting the stage for us to kick off 2023 in the best way possible means preparing energetically, getting clear about what we want, and launching into what comes next from a place of greater harmony and stability.

Q1: Overall energies of January: King of Pentacles & Ten of Cups

The King of Pentacles, when representing a person, is often someone in a position of power and authority. Here, that figure or energy is offering tremendous fulfillment and joy via the Ten of Cups. This combination can indicate a financial or career opportunity. These energies are indicated throughout the entire month of January, when they will be growing, developing, and gathering momentum for our tremendous benefit and long-lasting success and enjoyment. There is a wonderful opportunity here that may be developing rather quickly. We can support it by strengthening our confidence and self-belief, and by knowing our value and worthiness, expecting only success and continuous improvements for ourselves.

Q2: Week 1: The Hanged Man

The start of the new year beckons a pause and comes, perhaps, with encouragement to see things from a different perspective. We could benefit from finding new ways of looking at situations and considering different angles, as well as pausing to consider the choices we can make for the year ahead that feel in alignment and that will benefit us in the days to come. Taking time to rest, relax, recharge, and refresh our energies can set a positive tone for the new year. Now is the time to set new intentions and do the inner work of shoring up our belief in our ability to succeed in all we desire.

Q3: Week 2: Six of Pentacles

Six is a number of harmony and pentacles, representing the material realm, make the Six of Pentacles a card of stability and harmonious influences on the home front and in relationships, career, and finances. We are attracting new opportunities and strengthening our material stability. Relationships may see renewed or deepening commitment, and we may experience strengthening connections all around, we well as overall improved confidence, happiness, inner peace, and stability. Finding a sense of fun and engaging in joy-bringing activities can support positive manifestations and developments this week and beyond.

Q4: Week 3: Two of Wands

Two elements or forces are coming together. When they unite, they create a synergy that ultimately generates a third, unique aspect. The Two of Wands sometimes indicates collaborations with fruitful  results, whether partnerships with others or with the higher self. We may find ourselves connecting the dots this week in many ways, and we can expect things to fall into place and begin to move forward. We may also be connecting with new ideas that we can bring forward to benefit ourselves and others. Creative collaborations, new projects, and career opportunities may start flowing in now.

Q5: Week 4: Ace of Pentacles

The Ace of Pentacles often indicates a new project or opportunity, as well as a new source of income. Something is on offer, ready and waiting for us to accept it. The new opportunities that the previous weeks have hinted at are coming forward in manifested form now. Expecting them, believing they will come, is a powerful way of ensuring their arrival. New ideas that feel exciting are always worth pursuing, and we can breathe life into them by believing in their success. Even small, consistent efforts we make toward a larger goal add up to something bigger in the long run. Taking time each day to work toward our dreams—writing a bit in the morning or evening on a book or business plan, working on a painting a little each day, taking fifteen minutes daily to visualize ourselves living and experiencing our dreams—means we are adding more momentum to our goals and they are gradually gathering force.

Q6: Overall guidance for January: Eight of Wands & The Lovers

A beautiful romance or partnership is coming in quickly, fast and hot! Going with the flow and allowing ourselves to experience the exhilaration and pleasure of the experiences that are available to us now is a way of allowing the momentum to gather steam. The guidance now is to not slow down the energies by second guessing or doubting, and to leave anything that is not positive out of the equation completely to ensure the best and most fruitful possible experience. Allowing ourselves to feel completely the exquisite joy we were meant to experience will yield amazing results. This may indicate the love of a lifetime. For those already in committed relationships, a renewal of vows or rekindling of romance may be indicated. This lovely duo can also indicate a very promising and important career or creative opportunity, collaboration, or partnership.

July: The Month According to Tarot

Soul Cards Tarot by Kristine Fredheim

The presence of so many major arcana cards in this month’s reading signifies major change and developments on the horizon. Something is transforming beneath the surface, or more accurately, in the energetic, and is preparing to make its way into the physical. Week four of July looks especially promising for manifestations, with the Eight of Wands signifying powerful momentum and rapid forward movement. With Strength coming in as the card signifying this month’s energies, we’re reminded that we have what it takes to move through this period successfully. We can call on our inner strength to prepare ourselves mentally and emotionally for the change that lies ahead.

Q1: Overall energies of July: Strength

If nothing is certain but change, this beautiful card gives us reassurance that we’ve got what it takes  to not only get through it, but to ride the wave and come out on top. Change can be positive, neutral, or negative, depending on how we view it, but even when things may not look as we had hoped or expected, we have the ability to choose how we are calibrated through it all. The Strength card reminds us that we’re powerful and our greatest strength is within. It can also appear when we reach certain milestones that we could not have otherwise achieved were it not for our strength, persistence, and tenacity.

Q2: Week 1: The High Priestess

This enigmatic card guides us to the feminine power within. The High Priestess may ask us to consider what is hidden within, what is preparing to come forth, and what remains unseen, the catalyst behind our motivations. Our inner life may be in focus this week, and that can include the way we approach things, as well as our creativity, imagination, and spirituality. Our intuition may be heightened now and we could benefit from considering where it is guiding us before heading off in new directions or making significant choices. Our emotions may be trying to tell us something.

Q3: Week 2: The Moon

Coinciding beautifully with this week’s full moon, The Moon card may ask us to pay attention to how the full moon’s energies are affecting us. The sister card of The High Priestess, The Moon is also closely aligned with the hidden, the subconscious, and what some may think of as the shadow side. This week, our intuition may be guiding us toward something; our inner being or higher self may have a message for us in the form of wisdom, guidance, or images that flicker across the mind’s screen in quiet moments. The Moon may cast its light on secrets and mysteries. This week could find us separating truth from illusion as we attempt to figure out what is real and get to the core truth of the matters at hand.

Q4: Week 3: Temperance

Temperance is a card of balance, cooperation, harmony, and patience. This week, we may benefit from considering where we could use more balance in our lives. Something may be reaching a point of resolution and we could find ourselves easily untangling knots that previously, were not so easily unraveled. Patience serves us well now and we may find it more easier than ever to breathe deeply into a space of quiet peace and strength and call on our wellspring of patient reserves. In peace, the path will reveal itself. In harmony, we find resolution. We may discover great healing available in the quiet knowing that all is well and in discovering the well-being that is at the center of who we are.

Q5: Week 4: Eight of Wands

The pace picks up now as fast-moving energy makes itself known. Energy is gaining momentum, gathering behind the scenes and building on what is growing, aiding the development of new manifestations. Energies are continuing to gather throughout the week as they prepare to make themselves known in some form or another. Expect new opportunities, change, and rapid developments. When faced with choice points, our inner guidance steers us toward what feels good, which is where we find resonance with our truth.

Q6: Guidance for July: Seven of Cups

This card says dream big—there are no limits to what you can be, do, or achieve. The message this week is that what you focus on grows. The Seven of Cups may guide us to be mindful of what we give our energy and attention to and arrives as a reminder that we create our own reality. Backing up our desires with beliefs that we can have what we want, and supporting those wishes with the expectation that they are manifesting and will be ours, can be the powerful catalysts that help give powerful momentum to the change we seek to create. The universe is powerfully supporting us in manifesting our desires.

April: The Month According to Tarot

Soul Cards Tarot by Kristine Fredheim

This month, we are set up for success before a major shake-up. We’ve been doing the energetic work to prepare ourselves for a better future, and it pays off big time. Two tens make their appearance this month, which tells us something is ending. These endings are necessary and positive. The Ten of Pentacles says we’re in a good place materially so that, when the Ten of Swords arrives at the end of the month, we’re prepared to let go of what is ending. What’s happening is happening quickly, says the Eight of Wands, and going with the flow is ultimately the best way through.

Q1: Overall energies of April: Six of Pentacles

The Six of Pentacles is a card of balance, stability, and harmony in the physical. Things are coming into balance in more evident ways this month. As spring ushers in new growth in the Northern Hemisphere, so too is April bringing abundant manifestations and opportunities that are making their appearance. As we tend to them and nurture them, soon they will be ripe for the picking.

Q2: Week 1: Ten of Pentacles

The Ten of Pentacles is a card of earthly fulfillment and abundance. Ten is a number of completion and fulfillment and this card says we have all we need. Taking satisfaction in what we have and spending time in appreciation draws to us more of what we are appreciating. This card can be related to finances, work, home, or career, and this week could see us purchasing a home, receiving an allotment of money, getting a new job, starting or making progress with a business, or simply gaining the realization that we already have all we have been asking for. It can be helpful to take a step back and remember when we wanted what we now have.

Q3: Week 2: Nine of Wands

This figure on this card in traditional RWS decks is shown with a bandaged head, standing alone and holding a staff, poised in defense before eight other wands or staves. This figure has seen much and won the battle, and has the scars to prove it. They stand guard, ensuring their protection. This card can be a reminder of how far we have come, how much we have triumphed over, and it can also guide us to strengthen our boundaries energetically and otherwise. Our beliefs and expectations inform our experience, so when we believe we are safe and self-sufficient, we are. This card indicates victory, success, courage, and reclaiming one’s power. We may gain sudden realization of how we’ve been giving our power away without realizing it. Once we have the understanding, we are empowered to make the change and take back our power to stand in our strength.

Q4: Week 3: King of Wands

The King of Wands brings success and good fortune of all kinds. He is a master creator at the top of his game. He is wise and fair and creative. Whatever this week brings, it will turn out well. For manifestations we’re working on, this card reveals positive and beneficial outcomes. We’re making good headway, and may begin seeing evidence of our progress, if not full-blown manifestations. Coming from the stability of the Six of Pentacles and the Ten of Pentacles, and the strength and victorious outcomes of the Nine of Wands, the King of Wands follows in a progression that signifies taking control of our own lives by shaping things as we wish, being the deliberate creators we’re here to be, and aligning with the desired outcomes.

Q5: Week 4: Ten of Swords

The second ten to make its appearance this month, this card signals the end of a painful cycle. Something has come to a close, and it’s good that it has. This is a necessary ending, one that we may need to heal from but that will yield rich rewards in terms of lessons learned. The painful lessons of this cycle have caused us to grow and expand and get super clear on what we do want and what we don’t want. The lessons of this time will help us to shore up our understanding of our own strength, worthiness, and capabilities—if not immediately, then certainly over time.

Q6: Guidance for April: Eight of Wands

The message of this card is to flow with the fast-moving energies! Things can change on a dime this month, but it’s all for the greater good. Trusting that things are always working out for us is the best approach. We may find that new understandings reveal themselves swiftly and unexpectedly, but once we see them, we can’t unsee them. This is a shake-up type of energy that is much-needed. What isn’t working will crumble quickly. What isn’t a vibrational match will no longer be part of our experience. This is a transitional type of energy that we can align with by pivoting to what is better for us and shifting our focus away from what doesn’t. Focusing in the energy of the solution helps us line up with and receive solutions and resolutions.

March: A Reading for the Collective

Here we are, already in March! This year seems to be zipping by at lightning speed. With the first day of March being preceded by a leap day, we are hurtling toward powerful expansion, supported by universal energies to connect to our truth and our divine nature, and to stand firmly in our empowerment.

With so much exciting energy flowing all around us, I felt moved to do a reading for the collective for this month. The three Major Arcana cards that appear for three out of the four full weeks in March indicate that significant changes are happening that are life-altering and possibly karmic.

Q1 (Ten of Cups): What is the overall energy of March?

This month will be filled with joy and emotional fulfillment. This card also says that feeling into our joy brings us further expansion. This month will bring harmonious changes and developments. Abundance and celebrations are highlighted. There is much to be grateful for.

Q2 (The Emperor): Week 1 energy (March 1-7):

The Emperor tells of material success and leadership. He is in a powerful position but he is wise and fair, intelligent and responsible. He represents solidity and security in the material, financial, and business/career sectors. He can represent an authority figure in your life who impacts you in a positive, supportive way. This can indicate moving up in your career, getting a raise, a new job, or a successful outcome for you in matters of law.

Q3 (Three of Pentacles): Week 2 energy (March 8-14):

Flowing nicely from The Emperor, the Three of Pentacles shows you excelling in your work, receiving recognition for a job well done, and achieving rewards and satisfaction. You are skilled, and your work is being recognized and bearing fruit. You enjoy expressing yourself through creativity, you enjoy what you do, and others enjoy what you create. Your work and ideas are profitable and this week, you could see an increase in income and more work coming in.

Q4 (The High Priestess): Week 3 energy (March 15-21):

The High Priestess is depicted in the Rider-Waite deck sitting between two pillars, one black and the other white, signifying duality–that of the inner and outer self, the material world and the spiritual, light and dark. She encourages us to look within, to tune to our own perception and inner guidance, to examine our hidden talents, and consider what may be coming to light. Something is gestating that will soon emerge into being. This week, spending time in meditation, contemplation, and journaling will pay off in meaningful ways.

Q5 (The Hierophant): Week 4 energy (March 22-28):

Like The Emperor, The Hierophant is in a position of supreme leadership, but he is a spiritual authority where The Emperor is a figure of worldly power. The Hierophant can represent a guide figure, traditions, or a religious institution that will play a significant role in this week’s unfolding. Upright, this card indicates you are benefiting in some way or are being supported by institutions, that you are ascending to a position of leadership within such an institution, or that you are or are becoming a spiritual leader, teacher, or authority.

Q6 (Eight of Wands): Guidance from the Universe:

This card says keep moving! You are going places and life is rising up to meet you. Embrace all of the excitement and new experiences this action-packed month has for you. This is a busy time and you may even take a whirlwind trip or two. Seize the day; seize the moment! Expect rapid-fire changes, sudden advancements and progress, split-second decisions, and opportunities coming to you from out of the blue. Everything is going really well for you! This promises to be an exciting, inspirational month. Flow with the changes.

February: A Very Manifestational Month

It’s hard to believe we’re already in the second month of 2020! It’s going by so fast, with so many changes happening, both energetically and on the physical level. The energy feels like the VIII of Wands, as we are hurtling toward our destinations, whether we know where we are going or not, with a fast-moving energy that is supporting us in creating the lives we desire, manifesting our goals, and bringing to fruition all that we have been focusing on.

February is a “2” month, indicating partnerships, alliances, and alignment: the alignment of you with your inner being, your co-creative partnership with your higher self. It is also a month where new relationships of all kinds–professional, platonic, romantic, and spiritual–are coming into being and forces are uniting to bring together their unique power in a single, focused mission or intent that strengthens the collaboration. The forces together are stronger than they are separately, and their unity creates a force all its own that combines the strengths, attributes, and energies of the disparate parts.

With so much energy moving so rapidly, there is a fine line between surrender and maintaining focus. While on the one hand, it can be important to direct these energies so that we don’t lose focus, surrendering and allowing are key. We can maintain a healthy balance by keeping our sights set only on what we want, by keeping our minds focused there and not giving any attention to circumstances or conditions that are undesirable, which keeps the desired results active in our vibration and attracts more of the same to us (thank you, Law of Attraction!).

At the same time, we need to be in receiving mode, allowing our manifestations to enter our lives in physical, tangible form. When we laugh and experience moments of joy, appreciation, and gratitude, we let it in, releasing resistance and feeling fully the wholeness of who we are. This month, take pleasure in the fact that you are a being of light and abundance, that this is your divine nature, and enjoy the fact that you create your own reality. Your vibration, your emotions, and your beliefs are something you have complete control over. Isn’t that nice to know?
