Daily Reading: December 31, 2020

Today is the thirty-first day of the twelfth month and the final day of the year. Thirty-one is a number of manifesting new opportunities and tells us that new beginnings are at hand. Today marks a significant point of closure in a landmark year. The doubled twos in the year 2020 add up to four, which is a number of stability and solid foundations. This indicates that the changes that have come about this year have been to create stronger foundations on many levels. As we have had more time to go within, we have healed on deeper levels and gained a greater understanding of ourselves and our goals, dreams, and desires. In order to build the strong foundations, first the old, weak structures that were not serving us had to go so that we could rebuild a strong framework on solid footing. The changes we have experienced have transformed us and continue to do so. We have gained insight on what wasn’t working for us and are now ready to move ahead stronger than ever before, although the inner work still continues. 2020 also indicates 20/20 vision, and it is a year that has brought us greater clarity on many levels. It has caused us to look at things we needed to look at, unveiled what was hidden, and brought to our attention what we needed to see and become aware of. This year has brought greater awareness on many levels, and has shaken loose what needed to be released from our lives, both as individuals and as a collective.

The changes we have experienced in 2020 have prepared us to enter 2021, which is a 5 year. Five is a number of change, choices, expansion, and growth. 2021 promises to bring about changes and shifts that create improvements in our lives. 2020 has created a foundation of support from which we can now move forward and in many ways, it has been a catalyst for better things to come. Because 2021 is also about choice, we are guided to tune into our intuition to feel whether or not choices are right for us and to seek our inner guidance when choosing anything in our lives, as one decision, no matter how seemingly small or inconsequential, can have a powerful impact on our lives. We are asked to remember that we are the masters of our domain, rulers of our own kingdom, in the sense that each one of us is the master of ourselves. When we claim our own sovereignty, it can look like reclaiming our choices and decisions, reclaiming our power by taking back the choices that are ours and taking ownership of our decisions. Sometimes it can mean drawing on the well of inner strength that we each have within us and standing tall and strong, standing up for ourselves, and speaking our truth with authenticity. It can mean making our voices heard and speaking up for ourselves or for what we know is right. It can also mean aligning with our highest path and purpose, our life purpose and soul mission for this lifetime. We are asked to remember that we can always call on our allies in spirit for their assistance when needed. Today, we are guided to tune into our higher guidance via meditation or sitting in quiet contemplation, as there may be important messages awaiting us.

Adding up all of the numbers in today’s date brings us eleven, a gateway number. We are passing through from one phase into the next, as one cycle closes and another one begins. We are guided to take time for ourselves, to practice self-care, and to bring beauty and happiness into our lives, minds, and hearts. Decorating your space with flowers or in any way that uplifts you can bring about a positive shift in the energy around you and within you. As eleven also reduces to two, it indicates partnerships, cooperation, duality and oneness, harmony, balance, and co-creation. We may be guided to make certain important decisions and changes in our lifestyle, habits, and relationships so that we take ownership of our well-being and emotional health. As we stand on the brink of a brand new cycle, we are guided to remember that we create our own reality. Today is the perfect day to make a list of goals and desires that you want the universe to deliver into your life in the days, weeks, and months ahead. Getting clear now on the changes you want to make and the shifts you want to see in your life will benefit you. Giving these to the universe through the spoken or written word will establish the path for the year ahead, or for any time frame you designate.

Mantra: I trust that I am supported in making the choices that are for my highest good. My connection to my intuition and higher guidance is always strengthening.

Healing and Eclipses: Finding the Light Within

This has been a busy year for planet Earth, and the solar system has been just as active. The planetary activity will have brought us a total of six eclipses—two solar and four lunar—by the close of 2020. The November 30 eclipse is a partial lunar eclipse, and the final eclipse of the year—a total solar eclipse—occurs on December 14. This year being heavier on the lunar side gives weight to our internal landscape. If you are not already on the healing journey, the universe could have plans for you.

The moon is associated with the feminine, the subconscious mind, and with our inner world. When the moon becomes full on November 30, it will be partially obscured by the shadow of the Earth. The moon’s magnetic pull informs the tides, and as our bodies contain so much water, we are affected as well. November’s full moon is in Gemini, whose symbol is the twins. This aspect of duality shines a light on partnership, and is echoed in the aspects of darkness and light. This lunar eclipse is focused on the connection between the human self and the higher self, or the physical self and the spirit. Because it is a partial or penumbral eclipse, the energies are somewhat lessened.

When we start to tune into our often complex interior world, we have the opportunity to gain infinite clarity and increased self-awareness. We are also afforded a chance to heal and release emotional weight and any baggage we have been carrying. We can set down unnecessary burdens and clear energies that do not serve us simply by setting the intention of doing so. The Gemini influence may ask us to consider our relationship with ourselves and with our spirituality. We may find ourselves objectively examining aspects of our lives and our ways of living, thinking, and being that we have not consciously considered before or that we have not explored in a long time. We may begin questioning our choices and habits of thought as we see better ways of thinking and being that not only serve our highest good, but that can advance us further along on our path.

We are guided to look within and think of ways we can improve on all levels. We always benefit by being aware of our thoughts and thinking positively. Because we create our own reality, every thought matters. We can always guide our thoughts toward something better, stepping up or improving every thought with a better and more positive one, much like we would climb a staircase one step at a time. This is a way of healing; it is healing through self-awareness. We are being asked at this time to shine a light on our mental landscape and see where we can shift from the negative to the positive. Where are we doing ourselves a disservice with negative thinking? How can we adopt a growth mindset? How can we see ourselves as our Source sees us? When we seek to perceive with crystal clarity and to gain in wisdom, the universe will surely answer.

Lunar eclipses create energetic resets. Symbolically and energetically, when the full moon passes through shadow and then through the other side to reveal its luminescence once again, it is like turning off a switch and then turning it back on again. Full moons are times of growth, healing, and powerful cleansing, and the eclipse amplifies those energies. Eclipses have a way of creating powerful shifts and breakthroughs in our lives. If we have been resisting change that needs to happen for our growth and improvement, the eclipse can act as a catalyst that will shake things up and create the change you have been resisting or that is for your betterment.

Solar eclipses occur on the new moon, and the December 14 eclipse will be in heady Sagittarius. During a solar eclipse, the sun is completely obscured. This period of darkness asks us to look within and encourages self-examination. We are asked to explore what isn’t working, how we want to move forward, and our goals and plans for the year ahead. This may be a time to consider where you want to be by the end of 2020, and what you want to accomplish by the end of 2021. Sagittarius brings influences of the intellect, and you may find it beneficial to consider paths to professional development, career advancement, and spiritual development. The solar eclipse may bring profound insights and understanding that can help you to advance by leaps and bounds and reach new levels of understanding.

Wherever you stood at the beginning of the year, and wherever you may be now, one thing is certain—by the end of 2020, you stand a very good chance of being a much different and more improved version of yourself. We are always on the way to somewhere, and the journey is eternal. We only have now; we only have each moment. Where we stand in every moment is a potential springboard to somewhere else. The question is, how high do you want to jump? How free do you want to be? How far will you let yourself soar?

October: A Reading for the Collective

If one word could sum up 2020, it’s change. As we enter October, many of us are keenly aware that there are only three months left in the year. Years are energetic containers, which is why we can look back on some years and see prominent themes that applied to that specific year. It is the same with decades—every decade seems to hold its own style, theme, and personality. One of the more enjoyable aspects of doing these monthly readings is analyzing each month and exploring what that particular segment of time, or energetic container, might hold. What’s in store for October? What will the Universe deliver over the next four weeks? Here’s what the cards have to say.

Q1: What is the overall energy of October? Ace of Swords

This month brings clarity, new ideas, and fresh perspectives. We may have breakthrough ideas. Situations that have seemed stuck, blocked, or stagnant will suddenly start moving forward with ease and flow. The floodgates may open and bring a rush of inspiration and movement—energies that The Chariot in week 2 also supports. This month, remain open to inspiration and new ways of looking at things.

Q2: Week 1 energy: The Moon

To facilitate the flow of energy the Ace of Swords heralds, The Moon tells us that we first need to look within and spend time in introspection. Introspective work is the phrase that comes to mind. We are being guided to look closely and see beyond our shadows. Often, when we really look at fears and deeply held beliefs, we realize that the fears are flimsy, mere illusions that do not serve us, and that we have moved beyond some of those deeply held beliefs into new understanding. A close look can reveal things we were not aware we were still holding onto or that we did not realize were there. This awareness allows us to process and release anything not in alignment with our highest good. This is the work—intentionally examining what we need to let go of and replacing it with new thoughts, beliefs, and intentions that do serve us. I can’t becomes I can and I am capable and I am worthy. This is the work that allows us to move forward and makes room for the breakthrough ideas and inspiration that are in the offing throughout the month. The Moon can also bring forth enhanced creative abilities, intuition, imagination, and psychic abilities.

Q3: Week 2 energy: The Chariot

The Chariot represents a fast-moving energy. Hold onto the reins this week and maintain focus as you navigate, course-correcting as needed to ensure you stay on your path. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial factors to succeeding and moving ever-closer to your goals. Realizing that we are always on a path, and the path is never-ending as every place is a stop along the way on an eternal journey, may be key to really rooting into the importance of living in the now and enjoying where you are as much as possible in every moment. When we can find the joy in the moment, we can reach for a continually better-feeling place so that we rise up and allow more good to flow into our lives. Opening up to this joy is key to receiving the good we have been asking for. Finding inner stability, a place of solace, wisdom, and groundedness, a calm center of focus is important when things are shifting and in the face of rapid movement and change. Know when to reach for the still place within, and know that it is a place you can always turn to. The ability to find the joy in the moment is a way of coming into harmony as life’s chariot hurtles onward.

Q4: Week 3 energy: The Empress

The Empress celebrates beauty, creativity, and the pleasures of the material world, and finds joy in abundance. Her power as a leader can be connected to the home or to business. This week, look for themes related to feminine authority and leadership, which can include mothers and maternal figures, mature women, and female business leaders who may impact or influence you in some way. Seeds may sprout this week that you planted earlier; those that do will see growth and favorable outcomes when consistently tended and nurtured with care. This card can sometimes point to opportunities to strengthen relationships with women in your life who fit the role of The Empress; these relationships are well worth tending and yield emotional rewards. The Empress is connected to Venus, indicating that love may be on the horizon or could enter your life this week. Venus is also associated with pleasure and beauty, which may come into fruition this week in some form or another.

Q5: Week 4 energy: Page of Cups

Following on the heels of The Empress, who can represent creativity, the Page of Cups often indicates undeveloped creativity, in the form of potential creative abilities or new ideas in the beginning stages. Cups represent emotions, and pages are young and inexperienced; as such, the Page of Cups can indicate an underdeveloped self-esteem, lack of confidence, lack of boundaries, openness, or being naive. Sometimes, the page can represent a person who embodies these qualities or who is young or inexperienced. This card can point to the need to establish stronger boundaries, trust yourself more, belief in yourself, and quit looking to others for approval or permission. It can also appear when you are relying on others for validation or for happiness. If this is the case, coming back to who you are and strengthening your boundaries and your sense of self is encouraged. When this card indicates creativity and new projects, it can encourage you to develop ideas and talents. This can be done by practicing to further develop and refine skills, and by learning more about a subject. When it comes to new projects and ideas, this card can be encouragement to pursue them and to do what is needed to bring them to the next stage of development. Continually elevating ideas, projects, and talents is done one step at a time, and consistency, focus, and practice help them to bear fruit.

Guidance from the Universe for October: The Magician

The energies this month are generative and supportive of new ideas (the Ace of Swords) and undertakings (the Page of Cups and The Empress). These energies are like fertilizer, and The Magician is us—we are the ones who plant the seeds, water and tend them, and apply the fertilizer to help them grow. As creators of our own realities, we are the architects of our own lives. We call our own shots. With confidence (Page of Cups), and having done the inner work (The Moon), we strengthen our ability to manifest. We get what we expect. If we expect good things to happen to us, they will. If we are strong in the belief that, for example, everything is always working out for us, then it will. The Magician comes to remind us of these truths. Confidence, knowing, belief, and expectation are so powerful, and the Universe is letting us know that these serve us especially well this month. This year has already brought powerful, profound, and deeply life-changing manifestations, and the year is not over yet. We are living in a time of rapid manifestation. That, combined with the knowing that our thoughts create our realities, and that we have the ability to focus our thoughts, and cause energy to flow in the direction of our thinking, is everything we need to know. We always have the ability to write our own destiny, and to rewrite our beliefs simply by choosing our thoughts. The Magician is encouragement from the Universe to make the most of the powerfully supportive energies this month by focusing our will, our thoughts, and our intentions on what we want, and not giving a moment’s thought to what we don’t want.
