June: The Month According to Tarot

Soul Cards by Kristine Fredheim

June is a month of making room for happiness, fulfillment, prosperity, and all that is good. Before a house can be built, the brush must be cleared away. As we continue to heal, forgive, and release what does not serve us, we open the door to opportunity and improvements in all aspects of our lives. There is so much waiting for us this month, and we are asked to clear away the debris so we can build something solid and stable that will serve us well for years to come. We are reminded this month that things can always improve for us, and we are asked to do what it takes to gain clarity and align our expectations and beliefs with all our hearts desire. We do not experience the desire for something unless it is possible for us to have it. We receive our wishes, hopes, goals, and dreams from the higher aspect of ourselves, and we receive them when we are in a state of readiness for them.

Q1: What are the overall energies of June? Queen of Wands

Fruitfulness, generosity, prosperity… This queen epitomizes abundance and security. She is a masterful artist of manifestation, ushering in her dreams and goals with efficacy, ease, and grace. Her appearance heralds energies of opportunity, happiness, and peace. This week may see us considering new options as we consider the path ahead. When the road forks, we must choose which way to go. We may be encountering happy choice points this week, and may feel guided to follow our creative inspiration when it arrives to us, without questioning or doubting. Trust is key—trusting ourselves, our new ideas, and that following them will bring us joy and fulfillment. We may also be asked to lean into trust that we have what it takes to succeed, and to make adjustments to our beliefs so that they align with our hopes.

Q2: Week 1 energies: King of Cups

The King of Cups holds emotional depth; he is a masculine energy in touch with his emotional, nurturing side. He is giving, caring, a good provider, and someone who wants to be liked and appreciated. He stands by those he cares for and wants to ensure their well-being, as he feels responsible for their emotional landscape to an extent. This may be a person who wants to make everyone happy. If a person, he may be a key figure in this week’s events. He is warm and benevolent, and he is also creative, like the Queen of Wands. The strong aspect of creativity that is coming into play this month may be guidance to get creative in our manifestations, in our emotional approach to relationships and situations, or to recalibrate our emotions in some way. Creative problem-solving is also highlighted this week.

Q3: Week 2 energies: Temperance

This week, we are supported by universal allies who guide us to consider our options before choosing, to be practical, patient, and to make wise decisions. We may feel guided to consider how we can invest in our future and plan for our happiness and success down the road. This week we may find ourselves writing intentions for our future. Where do we want to be in five years? A decade? Twenty years? We can set those intentions now and establish the momentum of energy, like a snowball rolling downhill, which gathers snow (energy) and speed as it travels. Peaceful resolutions, harmonious outcomes, and cooperation are all highlighted now, as those will prove the best and most fruitful path forward. As we grow within and as our hearts expand, we are more readily able to see the highest possible solutions and path forward in any circumstances. The more we open our hearts, the more ego falls away and we are aligned with the truth of who we are—with our divine, highest nature.

Q4: Week 3 energies: The Emperor

The Emperor is a wise leader, one who is just and fair. He has weathered battles and is still standing, successful and with strong, clear boundaries around him. His energy is grounded, stable, and protective. This week may find us grounding into strength and stability, and leaning into our wisdom as well as our practical side. Someone—a leader, perhaps an employer or patriarch—is supporting you and wants to see you succeed. It may be necessary to drop veils this week, as we may have been seeing things through clouded vision or may have misunderstood a situation. Grounding in nature can help us gain clarity and structure. This structure and support may be necessary for the stability of future endeavors. We are building what will grow; we are planting the garden of our future. As we take control of our own future, finding that balance between surrender/receiving and maneuvering the reins so that we stay on course, we are empowered for ourselves and fully grounding in our strength and highest capabilities.

Q5: Week 4 energies: Five of Cups

The Five of Cups asks us to process and clear the pains of the past so we can heal. We are asked to practice forgiveness and to look where we can bring peace to a situation, which may be within us. This week we may be guided to focus on clearing the deadwood from the heart and to look to how we can emotionally nurture ourselves. Something may be ending, reaching its natural conclusion as its purpose is served, but that doesn’t make it any less painful. Surrender feelings of loss, disappointment, betrayal, hopelessness—whether through prayer, ritual, or intention. We can write down what we wish to release on paper and burn it, sending its ashes to the wind with gratitude for the experience and the lessons we have learned. We then create peace within our hearts and make room for what is better, what is meant for us, to arrive. The peace may not come instantaneously, but may progress with time and as we gain clarity and perspective. It is time to begin to rise above and start moving forward.

Q6: Overall guidance for June: Ten of Wands reversed & Nine of Cups

The Ten of Wands reversed stands as much with the Nine of Cups to offer guidance for June as it represents the energies of the last four days of the month. The Ten of Wands reversed asks us to lay down our burdens, to focus there throughout the month, and to practice compassion and forgiveness, for ourselves and for others. We are asked to clear the past, to let go the detritus and all that does not serve so we can make room for the abundance and emotional fulfillment that awaits us, symbolized by the Nine of Cups. There is a world of joy that is ready for us to be ready for it. This month, we can welcome in abundance, new opportunities, and a joy we have never known. This month is powerfully positive. While we are all at different places on our journey, we can always open our hearts to receive the improvement that is available to us at all times. The universal energies are waiting for us to open our hearts so we can flow in all that is better.

May: The Month According to Tarot

A tarot spread for the month of May including the Eight of Pentacles, The Hermit, The Empress, the Six of Swords, the Knight of Cups, and the Queen of Wands.
Soul Cards Tarot by Kristine Fredheim

This month may bring powerful manifestations, and the conditions are right for the seeds of our intentions to sprout, for us to start seeing attainment of our hopes, dreams, and desires. This month, whatever you are working on, go for it! The energies are strongly supporting your manifestations and creations. If you haven’t already, it’s time to get clear on what you want, set goals, and tune into your heart’s desires. You are a powerful creator and you can make the magic happen. You can create the life you wish. Now is the time to reach for the sky, and believe you can get there. Tuning into our expectations and beliefs this month and making any adjustments can be rewarding. Believe in yourself and make it happen!

Q1: What are the overall energies of May? Eight of Pentacles

This month shows us reaping the rewards of our efforts and focus. The goals we have been working toward are beginning to bear fruit, and the seeds we have nurtured are starting to sprout. Reward and gain, achievement and recognition, notable (and noticeable) progress are all being made manifest this month. May inches us ever-closer to summer in the Northern hemisphere, and the abundance of blossoms we see all around is echoed in the potent energies of manifestation and creative fertility that are increasing in the weeks to come, destined to reach their peak in the few months ahead. Everything is cyclical, and as we live our human lives, we feel these cycles too, as the wheel of the year turns and our experiences are echoed in the rise and fall of the sun, the warmth of spring and the cold of winter, the peaks of lush, fragrant abundance and the cool retreat of the plant kingdom into the frozen underworld. Now, we can embrace the beauty and prosperity that are all around us. We may receive fresh ideas and new excitement, burgeoning enthusiasm for new projects and goals or for what we know not yet.

Q2: Week 1: The Hermit

The Hermit says it’s time to retreat into your heart, into your mind, into the truth of who you are. Think of the fertile soil in which seeds hide. There, they gestate and grow and, when the conditions are right, they begin to manifest into the world above. When we retreat within, we can weed the garden and make room for the seeds we will plant. We can add nutrients to the soil to make it a fertile place and decide what we will plant there. When the time is right—and only we will know when it is—we can then plant the seeds and water and nurture them until they sprout. These seedlings hold so much possibility, and so do we. We can plant anything we want. The more we feed and nurture the new life, the faster, stronger, and healthier it will grow. This is the energy of The Hermit—the retreat within to do the inner work, to heal, to clear and release, to connect to our intuition and find the answers we seek to forge a bright new path ahead. The Hermit holds the lantern and is sometimes associated with a guide figure. While we hold our own guidance within, we can also call on our allies for support whenever we need it.

Q3: Week 2: The Empress

The Empress lives in abundance and fertility. Her world is one of her own creation; she is a self-made woman, a woman in her power. This card pertains to all, not just feminine energies, even though it is strongly feminine in nature. We all have within us both masculine and feminine. We may be guided to seek balance if things are off-kilter and to come to a place of fertile resonance and harmony in our own hearts and minds. The Empress may also represent the divine feminine on a greater scale, or the divine feminine in your own life—a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend. She may be you—who you are now or what you are striving to achieve. The Empress represents creativity and creation, and indicates the power each one of holds to manifest whatever we wish. In regards to manifestation, The Empress indicates the receiving mode—that state of being or vibration in which we allow all we desire to flow to us unfettered. This week, the energies are fertile for creation and creativity. Abundance and prosperity are flowing, and we can choose to get into the stream and receive.

Q4: Week 3: Six of Swords

The Six of Swords finds us sailing into something new, which could be a manifestation or the attainment of a goal we have been working toward. We may be sailing away from one situation and into a better one. We may be freed from blocks or a situation that held us back, gaining an increasing sense of freedom and hope. Where swords represent the mind and sixes are associated with harmony, this card may see us becoming unblocked, gaining clarity, or being freed from constraints that once bound us. We are working through the conflict of the Five of Swords, coming into greater understanding and gaining awareness or perspective on events that may previously have felt unresolvable. Our focus, intention-setting, goals, hopes, and wishes are becoming evident, our thoughts turning to things as we begin to sail into hope, into improved circumstances and a better way of life. A new phase is beginning.

Q5: Week 4: Knight of Cups

With new beginnings often comes idealism, and that can be a great thing. The Knight of Cups may be asking us to focus on (and believe in) the highest possible outcome. If you are embarking on something new, traveling, accepting an offer, or starting out on a new path, cycle, or phase in your life, believing in the best possibilities will serve you well. After all, we get what we expect. Cups are linked to the emotions, and especially to the heart. This card can sometimes indicate travel, positive change, or an exciting new relationship. It can also sometimes urge us to consider our options carefully and know when it serves us to be practical and when we need to let loose and have a little fun. Only you will know what is right for you. This week may bring something fun to consider and is a good week to travel.

Q6: Guidance from the Universe for May: Queen of Wands

The Queen of Wands is linked to powerful manifestation and creativity, and as an energy, she brings vitality, prosperity, vibrance, and warmth. She is generous and active, enthusiastic and passionate. This month, she may be guiding us to be true to our hearts, to not give up on our dreams, and to pursue our ideas with zest and creativity. “You can do it,” she reminds us, and, “you’ve got this!” This month, ventures bring fulfillment, dreams become reality, and things that were mere seeds of ideas become clay in our hands, which we are moulding and shaping in every moment with our thoughts, beliefs, expectations, goals, and desires. This month, do the thing! You were born for this. Keep going. Believe in yourself. You really have got this.

April: The Month According to Tarot

Soul Cards Tarot by Kristine Fredheim

April is a magical month, ushering in positive new changes and energetic freedom. Rapid manifestations are imminent, and we best serve our highest good by keeping our thoughts positive and believing in ourselves and our greatest potential. We are guided to be confident, to know ourselves as the powerful creators that we are. The strong message this month is to stay positively focused on our goals and embrace the changes that are coming. The presence of The Magician and The Fool bring a crystal-clear message: Now is a powerful time of creating a new life and manifesting something truly magnificent. The new season has ushered in a brand new cycle. Positive change is truly in the air; can you feel it?

Q1: What is the overall theme of April? The Magician

You are the creator of your life, the weaver of your fate, the master of your own destiny. You hold the power to create the life you desire through your focus and attention. This month, we are working on manifesting in bigger, more expanded ways than we have before, and the energies are supporting us in our work as manifestations become more rapid. We get to experience the thrill of creation. Like an artist bringing a scene to life with a paintbrush, using the vast array of colors at their disposal, we weave, create, and build through where we choose to focus. We are guided to choose our thoughts carefully and become ever more mindful of how we see ourselves, what we are visualizing, what we choose to believe for ourselves, and our expectations. When we find our thoughts don’t line up with where we want to be, we have the opportunity to shift them in that moment. Every moment is a new opportunity; every moment holds vast potential.

Q2: Week 1: Seven of Cups

Sometimes a card of illusion and truth, the Seven of Cups can guide us to practice discernment—something we should always do—but this month especially, working in concert with The Magician, the Seven of Cups brings an even stronger message to pay attention to our thoughts and guide them so they align with our goals. This can take practice, but once we’ve made the decision to be mindful, we can catch ourselves when our thinking doesn’t align with our hopes and dreams, and then choose to focus instead on more positive aspects. With consistent practice, we begin to see results. Seeing our world in a positive light becomes easier and more natural the more we raise our vibration. Doing things that bring us happiness this week will help us to be in a place of receiving and lend us an easy ability to focus, when we choose to do so, in a place of positive expectation. This is also a card of visualization and believing in our dreams. This week, spending consistent time in visualization, perhaps a little each day, will prove especially rewarding.

Q3: Week 2: The Chariot

If we’ve been putting in the work that The Magician and the Seven of Cups have guided us to do, this week may find us moving quickly and needing to keep our focus on our goals to ensure we reach our destination, making changes as needed so we stay on track. The Chariot represents a fast-moving energy that can bring rapid changes and possibly even conflict that is beneficial for us to address early on so it doesn’t careen out of control unchecked. The conflict can be in relationships or within ourselves. We may be working to resolve internal struggles. This brings to mind the story of the two wolves; the wolf we feed—whether it represents positivity or negativity—is the one that will thrive and become dominant.

Q4: Week 3: The Eight of Swords

We may be trapped in a prison of our own making or we could be bound by forces outside of our control. Regardless of the situation, the one thing we can always control is our own minds. We may need to bring our focus back around to the positive so we can let go of whatever is occurring in the world around us and focus instead on the garden within. The garden is something we can create within our minds. Do we allow weeds to take over or do we pull them? This is a week to do inner work, as we face, heal, and clear what does not serve us (the weeds). When we weed the garden, we make room for the roses and the beautiful, thriving colors that illuminate our inner landscape. No matter what is going on outside, when we hold the light within, it will light up our entire lives. Our own light can break the strongest of bonds and free us from what may seem like the most impossible situations.

Q5: Week 4: Four of Cups

Something is being offered to us, but if our eyes are closed or we are otherwise turned away from possibilities that don’t fit the container we expect them to arrive in, we may be missing something of tremendous benefit. This week, we may need to take the blinders off so we can see with clarity. The Magician’s influence over this month reminds us that we create our own realities, and that we are always creating, moment by moment, with our every thought and vibration. The Four of Cups can indicate that we are bored, stagnant, uninspired, or not being challenged in the ways we wish to be. Sometimes doing something new or changing the scenery can offer fresh perspective. Where fours are numbers of stability and cups resonate with the realm of emotions, this card can also indicate emotional stability. We may be finding it, or grounding in it, seeking a stable place after a time of imbalance. We are guided to tap into inspiration and emotional harmony, and to find the joy within.

Q6: Guidance from the Universe for April: The Fool

Embrace fresh starts, welcome change, and frolic in the joy of new possibility. The world is vast and exciting, and holds much in store for those who are open to its treasures. The Universe is asking us to open our arms and our hearts wide to our own potential and to throw out the old blueprints; they are vestiges of a former life and have no grounding in our current reality. It’s time to toss away old ideas and limitations and embrace the freedom that is ours for the receiving. Forget everything you thought you knew—these are unprecedented times. Allow yourself to dream big and believe in your dreams with the open-hearted, pure belief of a child. Let yourself dream up the best reality you can imagine, for yourself and the collective. The world is magical and full of wonder; it only ceases to be so when we stop believing in the wondrous, limitless possibilities that are available to us all.

March: The Month According to Tarot

March tarot spread
Soul Cards Tarot by Kristine Fredheim

March is coming in with a grounded energy and aspects of strength and stability. We are being asked to hold steady and stand strong in our truth and confidence so that we can manifest with greater ease and clarity. There is a balance of masculine and feminine energies coming in this month, and each lends its own supporting energies to the tasks at hand. The spread tells a story: beginning with The Magician, we focus our thoughts on what we want to create, then move forward into the intellectual, idea-driven energy of the Queen of Swords, where we tap into visualization, goal-setting, and planning before heading into the energy of the enthusiastic, adventurous King of Wands, who adds a sprinkling of good fortune and delivers manifestations into the physical before sending us to the prosperity and success inherent in the Four of Pentacles.

The Knight of Pentacles, along with the Four of Pentacles, The Emperor (the number four card in the Major Arcana), and Strength (which doubles the four to bring us eight, its placement in the Major Arcana) tells its own story of co-creative partnerships, especially that of our earth selves with our divine aspects and allies, who are echoing our efforts in the realms of the unseen—doubling our efforts, as it were. This points to potent manifestations and unlimited abundance. Our efforts are magnified and echo throughout the dimensions in which we are creating. It also indicates that our previous efforts are being compounded with the current energies to bring forth tremendous success and prosperity. The Page of Swords comes in as guidance from the Universe, encouraging us to pursue our interests with diligence and nurture our curiosity with further study as we strengthen our knowledge. This provides us with the stable footing upon which we can build something that will last.

Q1: What is the overall energy of March? The Emperor & Knight of Pentacles

The Emperor is a strong, powerful leader who can represent a foundational aspect of a situation, manifestation, goal, or relationship, or someone who is key in this way. Represented by the number four, he epitomizes strength and stability. With the Knight of Pentacles, who tells of slow, steady growth that provides support for the long term, these two make a powerful combination that brings in grounding and stabilizing energies for the month. Being that manifestation is in focus this month, as the first week’s energy is represented by The Magician, this combination indicates that we are supported by universal energies that are bringing in stabilizing forces to provide us with a stronghold that will support our dreams and goals and all we are creating. This pair points to slow, steady, stable growth as we are building something that will last.

Q2: Week 1: The Magician

Staying focused on our goals is key this week. We are creating as never before, reaching new heights in our ability to manifest. We are alchemists of own reality. Keeping our thoughts focused on the positive and ensuring that our beliefs align with our desires will take us far. Kick out those doubts! They have no place in your future. In fact, any negative belief on any subject will block your manifestations or slow them down. This week, let’s focus on the magic. Allow yourself to dream big and see yourself in your highest and best reality. Remember that you’re not stuck with one goal; just as energy is never static, neither are we, and that means our goals are always evolving as we identify new preferences and make adjustments to previous ones.

Q3: Week 2: Queen of Swords

From the ideation phase to setting clear goals, the Queen of Swords is a powerful creator. She is a visionary who brings dreams to life and visions into reality. This queen is powerful and her inner strength shines through in all she does. The Strength card appearing in week four echoes her energy throughout the rest of the month. This is the week to use your mental power to focus and gain clarity on your goals and dreams, without limiting your manifestations by getting too specific. Think getting into the energy of the end result—seeing yourself driving the new car without giving any attention to how you got it (leave that part up to the universe; it knows the fastest route to get you to where you want to be, and that is probably not a route you would even be aware of). The Queen of Swords lends energies of clarity and focus that support us in visualizing this week.

Q4: Week 3: King of Wands

The King of Wands is enthusiastic and his adventurous nature is evidence of his association with the fire element. Fire is associated with the will, freedom, choice, and manifestation. This card brings a dose of good fortune and indicates success and imminent manifestations. Dreams and visions may spring to life this week, and they appear even quicker when we stand behind them with confidence and belief that they will come about. The fours, Strength, and the Knight of Pentacles in this spread lend viability to the manifestations that the king’s energy brings about. The energies this week support the idealism, zest for life, enthusiasm, honesty, and integrity this king represents. This card also carries aspects of individuality and personal freedom, so the manifestations coming forth this week may also help to support our personal sovereignty.

Q5: Week 4: Four of Pentacles & Strength

The Four of Pentacles in this spread represents solid foundations for our manifestations, success and stability in the material realm, and prosperity in all aspects of our lives. This empowers us with the strength to be able to elevate in other areas of our lives from a place of comfort and stability. The strength in this area helps us to be stronger in others, and supports us as we walk our path and serve our purpose and mission for this lifetime. These cards together are also an indication that we are supported in all regards by our allies in the nonphysical. This support is a stronghold of energy that boosts us and supports us in our earthly lives. Through our inner strength, and our belief in ourselves and in our goals and purpose, we reach a greater place of stability and build from that strong foundation. A strong foundation ensures that we can build higher and reach new heights.

Q6: Guidance from the Universe for March: Page of Swords

The page shows us branching off into something new, starting fresh, and perhaps even shifting our perspective to gain greater clarity. We are encouraged to pursue intellectual studies and follow our curiosity to boost our knowledge and understanding about things we are interested in, remembering that we are interested in them for a reason. Our interest could be a cue from our higher self, who places guideposts to lead us toward our mission and our goals. We are asked to trust ourselves and have confidence yet set ego aside and pursue our quest with authenticity. This card may indicate that we are ready to expand and embrace new challenges.

Whatever you are working on, whatever your goals, now is the time to dream big and aim high. We are elevating further and faster than ever before. Believing in ourselves and moving forward with confidence, our sights set on the end result, will get us to our goals quicker than we ever imagined was possible. We are powerfully supported by a loving universe, which asks us to be clear and focused in answer to the question: What are you manifesting?

February: The Month According to Tarot

Deck: Soul Cards by Kristine Fredheim

The cards below, combined with the Mercury retrograde period lasting from January 30 through February 21, reveal a month that begins with intense shadow work and healing. Midway through the month, there is a major shift, a breakthrough moment. Like welcome rays parting gloomy clouds, The Sun card appears in the third week of this month—the last week of the retrograde—promising great success and achievement. Our guidance is to flow with changes rather than resisting them, to face our shadows and do the inner work rather than burying it or sweeping it under the rug. Doing the work—which may include healing or continuing to work diligently on your unique journey as you are guided—allows the sun to come out. The full moon in Virgo near the end of this month encourages us to find balance, an aspect that is supported by The High Priestess, who comes in as the overall guidance for the month.

Q1: What is the overall energy of February? Justice & The Devil

Both of these cards are indicated for the overall energies this month, and both fell out of the deck together in answer to this question (Justice slid over The Devil). This is a strong indicator that justice is coming and kicking out the energies represented by The Devil—sweeping and clearing out darkness and transmuting it, as well as any low-vibrational energies and anything that does not belong here. A mass energetic sweep has been going on for a while, clearing out heavy and non-resonant energies from this planet, from everywhere they have been embedded, and some have been there for many, many aeons. The great purge and clearing is still taking place, and we may have been caught in the crossfire. Some of us may have had attachments that have been with us since birth, and it is time for those to clear, along with anything that is ambient around us. There is nothing to fear, as the light is infinitely more powerful than the dark, and we are surrounded by beings of the highest light who are protecting us and assisting in the clearing of energies that are not of the light.

In all aspects of life, justice is being served. Karmic justice is especially highlighted now. We are reminded that we can break the cycles of karma through forgiveness and letting go. When we release the desire for retribution, we free ourselves. Justice is coming in answer to our asking, both as individuals and collectively. This card combination says that right will win, and reminds us that the light is dominant on this planet, and is continuing to increase despite outward appearances. Anything that is not of the light is no more than a blip on the radar, such is its smallness. When we find ourselves feeling heavy, sorry for ourselves, and weighed down with emotions, regret, and anything that does not make us feel joyful, we are asked to turn around our perspective immediately to focus on what is good. We get what we focus on; where thoughts go, energy flows. What we put our attention, energy, and focus into is what will manifest in our lives. This duo also indicates that any unfairness in your life will be resolved in just and fair ways.

Q2: Week 1 energy: Five of Wands

Kicking off the month, the Five of Wands has Mercury retrograde written all over it. Wands are associated with the will, and this card in particular can point to confusion, arguments, competition, disagreements, and battles of the ego. When we are aware that a particular energy is imminent, we can take measures to prepare ourselves to meet it in the best and highest ways possible. This week we will benefit from gathering our patience ahead of time and setting the intentions to practice kindness, compassion, understanding—and especially patience. Setting these intentions first thing in the morning and practicing a few moments of deep breathing before beginning work or leaving the house can also be beneficial. This week, others may simply want or need to be heard or simply to feel heard; letting others vent while keeping our own boundaries strong may bring improvements to the overall situation and may give us the opportunity to model strength, patience, and compassion. This can powerfully deflate any brashness borne out of a bruised ego or that comes from a place of misalignment or pain. We can always choose how we respond to others, and this week may call for us to be masterful communicators and to have the patience of the saints.

Before we even get out of bed, we can set intentions for each day. An example of this is: I bless all of my communications with patience, kindness, truth, integrity, compassion, peace, clarity, and pure, positive energy. This day, I will make powerful forward progress on things that matter to me. This will be a wonderful day. I am always patient, always kind, and always aligned to my best and highest possibilities. I will inspire others and contribute in positive, meaningful ways to every interaction of which I am a part. Making a habit of setting daily intentions can powerfully impact your days in positive ways. Watch for distractions this week; try not to let anything throw you off course, and recognize when something isn’t worth addressing right away. If you are on a roll, for example, or in the flow state and message notifications go off, maybe it’s better to ignore them. This week is a great week to set devices to Do Not Disturb mode before beginning periods of work or focused concentration. Most things do not need to be responded to right away.

Q3: Week 2 energy: Five of Pentacles

This card can have different meanings depending on individual circumstances. Sometimes it is encouragement to save your resources and spend wisely. Other times it is encouragement to shift into an abundance mindset. Regardless of where we are, changing our thinking to one of appreciation for the resources we do have is always beneficial. Being in an abundance mindset doesn’t always mean feeling into gratitude for material things. We can enter this state through appreciating anything—the sunshine, the beauty of the natural world, our friendships, animals, our talents, music, the breath in our lungs. The more we get into this mindset, the more we are opening ourselves up to receiving greater abundance in all areas. Appreciating beauty brings us more beauty. Feeling joy allows us to receive so many great things. This week is all about perspective and what we choose to focus on. The world is full of ingredients and choices. What will you choose to focus on this week? What are you allowing into your thoughts? What are you giving your attention to?

Q4: Week 3 energy: The Sun

The happiest card in the deck, The Sun shines the brightest of all. As welcome as a cheerful, warm day after a long period of rain, The Sun brings fulfillment, happiness, and the fullness of all things bright and beautiful. Expect great things this week. We can find tremendous meaning in even the smallest aspects of life that have the power to light us up with joy. This week may find us receiving rewards, achievements, new opportunities, unexpected or long-hoped-for resources, great inspiration, and above all, an understanding of what truly matters in life. However we get to joy, we are guided to stay in that joyful state as long as possible, to allow ourselves to feel it in all its glory. This makes us a magnet for success and manifestations. Vitality, great happiness, pleasure, clarity, and success are all indicated this week.

This week may bring great shifts in perspective for many people, as well as major life changes that align us with our highest path and purpose or open up new doors of possibility where before we couldn’t see a way forward. It all opens up for you this week. Notice even the smallest changes and shifts; tremendous, life-changing events are not always illustrated on billboards in big, bold letters—sometimes they are as slight as the wind generated from a butterfly’s wings, yet somehow contain the power of the Universe. This week something is subtly (or not-so-subtly) set in motion for future revelation or it may come tumbling into your life with all the force of a giant, happy boulder. However it appears, it’s time to let the sun shine in! This week, heart openings are indicated that can bring about significant healing and open you up to new levels of happiness such as you have never experienced before. Remaining open to possibilities without placing limits or expectations on them will allow them to flow to you; be sure you are ready to receive what is ready for you

Q5: Week 4 energy: King of Swords

The King of Swords sometimes represents a lawyer, judge, or decision-maker, which is interesting in light of the Justice card that sets the overall theme for the month. This king is ruled by fairness and objectivity. He (or she) is wise and intelligent, fair and analytical, and can sometimes also represent a scientist, professor, or a leader of some kind. As the card for the final week in the month, this shows us concluding the month with a wrapping-up of anything that has been awaiting alignment, justice, judgment, or a setting to rights. The upright king indicates that any decisions needing to be made will be made with the fairness and objectivity this card represents. Trust the king’s skill and incisiveness as you would trust a wise and just leader.

This week marks the ending of the Mercury retrograde period (on Sunday, so Monday begins the week for us free and clear, although we are still in the retrograde shadow period until March 13). Be sure you have all your papers in order, documents at hand that you may need, and that you have read and understand all legalities and have otherwise done your due diligence when it comes to paperwork and the signing of documents. It may be best to wait until at least after the 21st to sign any contracts or enter into any engagements. When signing anything in the shadow period, be sure to read everything carefully (twice) and gain clarification on anything you don’t fully understand. This king gives a go-ahead though, when the timing is right. Try not to rush or force processes, but to flow and trust divine timing. The King of Swords also guides us to be discerning in all of our communications and to think before we speak, and when we speak, to speak with clarity, honesty, fairness, truth, and objectivity.

Q6: Guidance from the Universe for February: The High Priestess

This month, throughout the month, tune in. Trust yourself. Connect to the divine feminine energies and to the divine feminine power that you hold within. We all have both masculine and feminine energies within us, and this month, you may find your greatest power in striking balance between the two. When this card appears, however, its focus is especially on the sorceress within, the powerful feminine energies that come from the Goddess. This card can also indicate that something is hidden that will be coming forth in divine timing, but at this time, it is unknown to you. Things may not be as they seem, which is why it is so important, also given the retrograde, to tune into our intuition and instincts before making decisions or moving forward with plans. Be careful of what you say yes to, both in spoken and written words and energetically through vibration. Above all though, trust yourself. Love yourself enough to go within and attune to your inner power.

This card can also be guidance to face our shadows and to do the very important work of healing, clearing, and releasing. This month may bring shake-ups and surprises that, while they have a positive result and a happy outcome, have the power to shift our perspective. The High Priestess can also point to creativity, dreams, spirituality, and the imagination. The imagination is a powerful ally to us when we are working on creating and manifesting, and in rewriting and rebuilding our world into something that aligns with our intentions. This card reminds us of our power to create through visualization and also encourages us to look to our inner world, as we may find great insight there. What are our dreams trying to tell us? What messages does our higher self have? When we tune into the heart, what do we find? Regardless of who we are, we each have a rich inner life that is ready for us to tap into. Entire universes reside within every human heart, just waiting to be explored.

2021: The Year According to Tarot

Deck: Soul Cards by Kristine Fredheim

Six months of 2021 are represented by Major Arcana cards, which indicate karmic, life-changing, large-scale, and sometimes fated events. Think soul contracts, life purpose, and soul mission. But that is only half of the story. The rest of the year is balanced out by pip cards, which tell the story of our everyday lives. In these small moments lie choice, and choice lies with us. We are strongly guided to tune into and strengthen our connection with our intuition so that we can exercise our free will and sovereignty, and make the truest and best choices for ourselves without being swayed by outside influences or the will or opinions of others. Here’s what the cards have to say for each month ahead:

January: Five of Cups reversed

In the wake of an emotionally challenging situation (or year—ahem, 2020), we are picking up the pieces or just opening our eyes to see what lies scattered about. As we gather our senses and come back to ourselves, we look around and assess the situation, our emotions, our feelings, and consider what is whole and what lies broken. We have choices to make. How to move forward? What to mend and what to walk away from? We are guided to take time to ourselves this month for self-care and nurturing, and to really take a close, unflinching look at what serves us best right now and for the month ahead. Take your time and go within. Rest, heal, dream, and envision your brightest future. What is part of that future, and what is not? As the first month of the year, January is a time of new beginnings. This is the time to welcome new opportunities and set our sights on where we want to be and what we want to create. This is the time to consider how you want to reshape your life. Remember, you are the potter.

February: Wheel of Fortune

Now that we are clear on what we want, here comes the hand of fate ready to deliver what is due. Being that this card is in the upright position, it signifies positive, happy changes that bring momentous outcomes. Get ready for-life changing opportunities and events this month. This second month of the year brings energies of two—i.e., partnership, cooperation, and maybe even love, either rekindled or new. The Wheel of Fortune is also the number 10 card in the Major Arcana; ten brings energies of conclusions, cycles endings, completion, and fulfillment. With endings come new beginnings. This month may usher in things we never even realized we wanted as they come dropping out of our vortex and catapulting into our lives. New jobs, businesses, marriage proposals, and major life changes are all indicated this month. And remember: the less your resistance, the more you can receive. It’s time to get happy, as our joy and positive vibrations attract to us all that is good and wonderful.

March: Nine of Wands

In the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, the Nine of Wands shows a figure, guarded and bandaged, holding a large staff as if in protection. He is wary and watchful as he protects his battlement. He has been knocked about and knows better than anyone the importance of self-protection. This month, stand your guard, stand up for yourself, reclaim your power, stand in your power, and protect what is yours. Say no. Speak up. Channel your inner warrior. You have what it takes to succeed, and you are stronger than you realize. This card also guides us to be wise, to be kind yet strong, compassionate yet powerful. Being a spirit warrior does not entail the old 3D version of the bloody, angry warrior charging ahead with a weapon of destruction; we are moving beyond and above that into intelligence, strength, personal empowerment, and wisdom. We are kind and loving, yet smart enough to know how to protect our energy. This month, tune into your powerful inner strength—you have a deep wellspring of it that lies within. Call on Archangel Michael for strength and protection.

April: The High Priestess

The High Priestess is powerful and sovereign, and guides us to tap into our inner power and sovereignty. This wise leader first leads herself. She is aligned with the truth of who she is, her divine nature, and is keenly attuned to her intuition. This card bears the number two, which further strengthens the energies of co-creation between our inner being and our earthly self. Like The Magician, which appears later this year in October, she creates her own reality and holds the power of transformation as she draws from a vast palette of resources and ingredients. In contrast to The Magician, The High Priestess creates from a soul level, from the divine aspects of herself as she attunes to her power within and draws from her inner resources. While The Magician does draw on his inner power, he tends to be more outwardly focused in his creations and manifestations. Tuning in through meditation and committing to the spiritual practices that resonate with you can summon forth hidden abilities and spiritual gifts that are ready to expand within you. As we look within, we find vast reserves of inner power, our innate gifts and abilities, and the authenticity and truth of who we are at a soul level. This figure of the divine feminine asks us to find the magic within.

May: Six of Cups

This happy, nostalgic card indicates peace, balance, joy, and generosity of heart. This month may bring an abundance of emotions in the form of emotional renewal, happiness, and a discovery of the joy we each hold in our hearts. We may have reason to celebrate this month, and we are guided to remember our past successes and know that we are capable of achieving that and so much more. Our relationships bring happiness and are a reminder that we are never alone and that we have a wellspring of support to drawn on. Our loved ones, family, and friends can be a source of support for us. While our truest and best support comes from within, this is a month of happy connections, new and renewed, that brings camaraderie and fun. Where we created happy memories in the past, we can create new and happier ones in our present and future. When we set the intention to constantly improve and elevate in every way in our lives, the universe conspires in our favor to deliver what we have asked for. It is never too early or too late to seek improvements in life. As long as we have breath in our lungs, we can be happy and fulfilled, and we can realize our greatest dreams.

June: Eight of Cups

The Eight of Cups shows us turning away from something—whether a relationship, a situation, a locale, an ideology… Whatever it is, it is no longer working for us. We will know when it is time to walk away, as we can often sense energetically when something is no longer worth our time and effort. Have we put in more than we got out of it? Is it lopsided or out of balance? Are the other parties doing their part? These are some of the questions we may find ourselves asking this month. In the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, this card shows an empty space where, presumably, one cup had been before. We feel intuitively and emotionally when something is missing and we are guided to trust ourselves to know when it is time to try to find it and put it back where it was, to seek it elsewhere, or to look for something new altogether. This is very much a card of letting go and walking away into what is possibly the unknown. Wherever we go, when we carry the intention of honoring our highest good and seeking better for ourselves, we are establishing the energetic foundation for what will come next. It is important for us to get clear on what we do want before we walk away; writing it down grounds the energy and takes the concept from thought to manifest form or physical creation and begins a stronger momentum that allows it to grow so that it can show up in our physical experience.

July: Three of Swords

After last month’s decision to turn away from what wasn’t working, we now find ourselves doing the inner work of feeling the pain of the situation we have left and processing it. The number seven indicates shifts as we move from one energy to another. Keeping our focus clear and strong and keeping our eyes on what we want will be our guiding light this month. The phrase You have to feel it to heal it comes to mind. It serves us best to do this inner work now and clear it all out so we can create space for joy, happiness, and positivity, and welcome better situations. When we hold onto energies that do not serve us, when we do not do the work of processing and clearing the painful bits, they stay there and inform our vibration, which attracts more of the same to us. The only way out is through, in this case. Our guidance this month is to do whatever is needed—cry, journal, meditate, take salt baths, go for long walks in nature, dip in the sea, rest, engage in self-care, put on a favorite record and dance with abandon, create art—or all of it. On the other side of this, we will be a clear vessel that can hold the light. But we are a work in progress. It can benefit us this month to remember that healing isn’t a one-off project; it’s a lifetime commitment, and the results are so very worth it. We are so worth it.

August: Strength

From this period of processing and healing emotional wounds, we now begin to summon up our inner strength. Within each one of us is a deep wellspring of strength and power that comes from love, which is the strongest force in the universe. This eighth card of the Major Arcana aligns with the eighth month of the year. The number eight is, visually, the lemniscate, or infinity symbol, turned on its side. The lemniscate is a reminder of eternal life, while the number eight represents abundance and prosperity of all kinds, not just in the material realm. This makes eight a number of infinite abundance. This month, we have the Lion‘s Gate Portal, which is active from July 26 through August 12, and reaches its peak on August 8 (8/8). Get ready to absorb the powerful energies from Sirius, which beams in its magic during this time. This is a potent time of manifesting abundance and clearing our energy so we can make more room to hold the light and receive more of the abundance that is our birthright. This month, we are rewarded by setting strong intentions and writing down our goals, dreams, and desires. This month’s guidance is to sit in meditation, visualizing yourself living your desired life and achieving your goals while feeling how you would feel if you were living that life; this will help it manifest more quickly. Try doing this for 20 minutes each day beginning on July 26, or throughout the entire month of August, and see what unfolds. This card is also related to courage, persistence and determination, and overcoming weakness.

September: Queen of Wands

A card of fruitfulness and abundance, this Queen is the master of all that the suit of wands represents—will, passion, fire, drive, excitement, and manifestational abilities. The Queen of Wands knows how to use these attributes to her greatest benefit, and does so in a loving way. Compassionate, generous, loving, and kind, this queen is a masterful creator. She also represents creativity, which is linked to creation, as what we make is linked to our will. Getting creative this month and making things—whether related to the arts, business, plans, travel, or goals—can link us into this energy of manifestation. Similarly, when we reach the flow state through creative activities, we open ourselves to receive what is for our highest good. This card carries a generative force that reminds us of our ability to shape our own realities. Following last month’s Lion’s Gate Portal, this month we are guided to get into the receiving mode by opening our hearts and allowing ourselves to experience joy, fun, happiness, and any high-vibrational emotions. Getting into the flow state also helps us to be in receiving mode. The seeds of intention we have previously planted are getting ready to sprout, or they may be ready to bear fruit. This month is the time of the traditional harvest, and is a great time of receiving.

October: The Magician

The Magician is depicted in the Rider-Waite-Smith deck as having all of the tools of the trade at his disposal. He works with the forces of earth, wind, water, and fire, symbolized respectively by the pentacle, the athame, the chalice, and the wand. These elemental energies are forces of creation that are all around us, and that we can work with anytime we wish. Crystals represent the earth, feathers and incense the air, candles fire, and salt baths or goblets water; these tools aid us in working with each element. And we all have these elements within ourselves: the body is earth and contains water, the breath in our lungs is air, and our will or spirit is fire. They support and strengthen our work through their aligned energy, but ultimately, all we really need is our intention. This month we are strongly supported in our creations, in manifesting, and in taking outward action (like submitting resumes, writing down goals, drawing up business plans, and so on) to add momentum to what we are working toward. We are guided to remember that integrity is important in all we do, and that energy intended to harm another comes back on us multifold. Live and let live is a good motto to live by; we are asked to concern ourselves with our own energy, life, practice, and creations first and foremost, and focus on expanding into the highest and best versions of ourselves. This card bears the number one, which aligns with the energies of focus, manifestations, new beginnings, and fresh starts. We are supported this month and at all times in setting the intention to elevate ourselves to higher and better ways of being, thinking, and doing; when we set this intention, the universe backs us all the way.

November: Justice

In the upright position, Justice signals a happy conclusion to something in question, whether it is directly related to legal issues or to matters concerning the heart, happiness, health, or well-being. This card bears the number 11, which brings a gateway energy through which we pass to enter a new experience, phase, or cycle. The 11 energy is especially strong, as it comes through so synchronously on the eleventh month of the year. Something karmic or life-changing may be taking place for you, and the universe may be tipping the scales in your favor or making adjustments to create balance. You may be passing into a new situation that represents an energetic upleveling, as you may have successfully fulfilled a contract, agreement, or obligation of some kind. The Justice card also carries energies of receiving karmic rewards and justice being served. If you have been struggling with a situation, feel you have been treated unfairly, or have had enough of the same lessons over and over (i.e., repeating themes and cycles throughout your life), give this to the highest guidance of the universe and ask the angels and your allies for support and clarity. Requesting an end to lessons you feel you have truly learned can benefit you now. On the other hand, there may be something you are still missing that keeps bringing the same cycle around; ask for clarity and guidance on closing it out for good so you can learn what you need to learn and move on into better things.

December: The Sun

This is the happiest card in the deck, and it shows our efforts paying off. The Sun bears the number 19, which indicates the completion and fulfillment of a cycle (possibly karmic, as this is a Major Arcana card), which is now being brought to its happiest outcome. Expect brighter days ahead and a surge of confidence, inspiration, vitality, and achievements. Fame, fortune, accolades, success, and bright, happy new beginnings are all indicated now. Honors and goals fulfilled, the manifestation of dreams long dreamt, and the physical evidence of circumstances long desired are now entering your experience in the best possible way. You are receiving clarity and new understandings like never before. This card also indicates that light is being shed on new subjects, bringing you information and wisdom that can be life-changing and may open up new paths and opportunities. You could be gaining a newfound sense of self as you find a sense of surety, peace, profound joy, and deep satisfaction that will illuminate your days to come and the year ahead.

January: A Reading for the Collective

Deck: Soul Cards by Kristine Fredheim

The reading this month tells a powerful story of closure, attainment, new beginnings, success, opportunity, and manifestations that lead us to a place of peace, comfort, prosperity, fulfillment, and joy. We have done the inner work and are ready to move on and welcome great things into our lives, circumstances and situations that bring us happiness and fruitful new ways of living, being, doing, and thinking that benefit us in every way and help us to uplevel. The upheavals of the past have transformed the ground we stand on, ripping apart the crumbling structures and allowing us to create solid foundations to support a future that will, in turn, support us. We have shifted into something so much greater than we ever would have dreamed, even a year ago. We can look back on our progress and feel deeply into gratitude for how strong and brave we have been, and for allowing ourselves to heal and expand beyond our comfort zones. We have reached new heights and in the process, have learned so much more about ourselves for having sounded the depths of our being to discover how strong and powerful we truly are. We have risen like the Phoenix from the ashes, reborn again from fire, transmuted into something more magnificent than ever before. We now realize why we had to burn.

Q1: What is the overall energy of January? Nine of Cups

The nine indicates the energy of endings that will be prevalent throughout this month. Situations, relationships, and cycles that have reached a point of fulfillment are coming to a close. The Nine of Cups foretells a fullness and great joy. We may be rewarded for work well done, and could receive abundant new opportunities and blessings that assist and support us in our growth and allow us to move forward on our path. This card can also speak of happy endings, as we may reach points of closure that have been long-anticipated or long-awaited. We are at an emotional point on our journey, and abundant joy is becoming available to us with new changes, developments, and opportunities this month.

Q2: Week 1 energy: The World

As the number 21 card, The World is the final placement in the Major Arcana. It is indicative of achievement, mastery, fulfillment, and wholeness. You have reached the end of a journey or major cycle in your life, and congratulations are in order. This point marks a significant achievement, which could be apparent in your physical reality or hidden in the spiritual realm, beyond sight as an energetic reality. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done, and take time to celebrate your achievements and successes. The number 21 is significant, as it indicates new beginnings and partnerships, and manifestations borne of co-creation. Our focus and allowing have opened the doors for us to receive all that is good and abundant and that is meant for us.

Q3: Week 2 energy: Ten of Pentacles

This happy card indicates abundance on all levels, material comfort, pleasure, success, good fortune, and overall happiness and well-being. It also relates to stability, family (especially a lucrative family business), and property. There is an indication of legacies being built and established, or passed onto the next generation. Those of you who may be considering starting a business are especially supported in doing so now, as this could provide a foundation of support for you and your family for generations to come. Inheritances of the material, emotional, and spiritual kind could be integral to the events of this week. We may be reaping the rewards of our efforts in clearing family karma and in upleveling through healing and energy work; this very important work can have positive effects on our family line and those connected to us through our DNA. As we clear, release, transmute, and heal, we make room to hold more light. We are guided to welcome in the light as we clear out the old. Spending time in the sunlight this week, and grounding often, will be especially beneficial. There is a strong aspect of completion and closure related to family.

Q4: Week 3 energy: The Magician

We are capable of manifesting powerfully. As creators of our own realities, we may be seeing stronger evidence of our intentions and goals as they come into fruition and begin to make themselves evident in our lives. Opportunities may come our way, and we may be guided to take the path of least resistance, as we flow with the magic the universe sends our way. Finding alignment with our inner being—whether through art, creativity, joy, laughter, fun, or meditation—can open the floodgates to receiving or allow our desires to seep in through the cracks. How much are we allowing and how much are we blocking? Often, when we examine the reasons we are putting up blocks of resistance, we find that they are as flimsy and inconsequential as leaves blown by the wind. When we remember how powerful we truly are, we realize that nothing is off-limits to us. As the number one card in the Major Arcana, The Magician symbolizes new opportunities, focus, determination, and thoughts and efforts made manifest. This could arrive as guidance to focus your thoughts in ways that serve you, to think positively, and to think only about what you want, or it could be a sign that what you have been working to create and the seeds of intention you planted are now beginning to sprout.

Q5: Week 4 energy: Ten of Cups

In this final week of January, the Nine of Cups indicated for the month’s overall energy leads into the Ten of Cups, as though in a natural, sequential progression. The changes, developments, opportunities, abundance, and good fortune indicated by the Nine of Cups becomes the completion and integration of the Ten of Cups, which brings us deep comfort, harmony, and a sense of peace and well-being. The rewards and manifestations this month has ushered in now find us in a place of happiness and security. This week it is beneficial to revel in joys, however small, and to feel authentically into appreciation and gratitude for the abundance and comfort we are able to experience in our lives. Doing so will magnetize more of it to us and allows us to perpetuate the momentum of comfort, domestic peace, harmony, love, and anything else we choose to feel into gratitude for.

Q6: Guidance from the universe for January: Six of Pentacles

Maintaining harmony in all we do and appreciating our abundance serves us well throughout the month. Where we have the ability to be generous to others, we are guided to give, as we can all give from where our cup overflows. We may be rich in laughter or in resources. We are guided to enjoy our abundance, in whatever form it may take, to the fullest extent, to allow ourselves to fill with joy, and to recognize where we can uplift others, whether materially or emotionally. Generosity, giving and receiving with joyful authenticity, are strong aspects of this card. We are asked to look on others—who may have less than we do or who may be struggling—with kindness and compassion, as we recognize we are all on different parts of the journey, and are all here playing different roles for one another. When we see ourselves as one, we see the divine in the face of the lone wanderer, in the eyes of a child, and in the aged as equally as we see it within ourselves. Looking on others with an understanding of our connection and unity fosters deep love within the collective that creates shifts and is felt by all. We can always choose to be kind.

December: A Reading for the Collective

Deck: Soul Cards by Kristine Fredheim

This month, we are asked to do the inner work, to heal and clear what does not serve us and send it into the light for transmutation. We are also asked to protect our energy and stay focused on our goals in order to receive the opportunities and manifestations that are waiting for us. This month carries a lot of opportunity, and we are guided to not let anything knock us off our path, no matter how challenging it may be. Read on to discover what each week holds and the overall guidance this month from the universe.

Q1: What is the overall energy of December? Three of Wands

The Three of Wands is a strong indicator of manifestations coming to us this month. This is also a time of profound growth and expansion. We have the opportunity to uplevel in many ways in our lives, all of which begin with the spiritual. As we allow more of what we want to come to us, it begins showing up in manifested form, whether through ideas, situations and circumstances, or physical objects. This is a time of great abundance, and as we align our beliefs with our desires, we can receive new manifestations and opportunities. The Three of Wands also guides us to continue working toward our goals and shows our efforts bearing fruit. We may begin reaping the rewards of our dedication and applied skill this month. As we shift our intentions toward our desires, hidden forces conspire to deliver to us the fruits of our asking. This month rewards goal-setting, self-expression, and creativity.

Q2: Week 1 energy: Four of Swords

Our guidance this week is to rest. By allowing ourselves some downtime, getting extra sleep, and relaxing, we create the time and space in which we can heal, which furthers our growth on every level. This week, as we release, clear, and process what does not serve us, we make room to let in the light. Relaxing and clearing our minds from any worries and stress, and reaching for things that make us feel happy, brings us into the receiving mode and allows what is good to flow to us. When we are in the flow state, we magnetize good things to us and receive answers to our questions, along with clarity, new ideas, and physical manifestations. Jumping off the mental hamster wheel this week will allow for a reset. On the other side of it, we will be able to easily and quickly find better ideas and think with greater clarity and positivity. There is an aspect this week of clearing energetic blockages around the mental and emotional bodies in our auric field. Spending time in meditation and visualizing golden light around us and within us can help to clear and transmute those energies and fill and strengthen our field with more light. This protects us, energizes us, and prepares us to better handle what comes next.

Q3: Week 2 energy: Five of Wands

Fives indicate change and wands are associated with the will, motivation, passion, inspiration, drive, and manifestation. Our goals may be shifting this week and we may begin seeing things in a new light. Our ideas may be gathering momentum and reaching a fulcrum point on which they will pivot. We may start seeing expansion and changes in unexpected ways, as well as movement in situations that were previously stagnant, or even those that we thought were steady and stable. Aspects that were on pause could now begin to move and shift. New challenges could make themselves known this week; we can choose to look at them as opportunities, and they may in fact be blessings in disguise. Unexpected changes are flowing this week and it may be best to go with the flow and take the path of least resistance, as a detour may lead us to just the place we never knew we wanted to go. When we find ourselves there, we may realize it was better than anything we were expecting or had asked for.

Q4: Week 3 energy: Seven of Swords

It may be of critical importance this week to stay focused on our goals and not let anything sway us from our path. In the face of challenges, we can choose to let ourselves be knocked off our path or to stay the course. We are guided to keep coming back to our truth and to protect our boundaries. Remaining aware of the intentions of others and knowing who we can trust and whom we should guard ourselves against can play into the events of this week. Remember that you can determine the people you allow into your personal space. Knowing when to distance yourself from others and becoming aware of false motives from those who pass themselves off as genuine could be of the utmost importance now. It may be necessary to create stronger boundaries around yourself and to protect your energy, as not all visitors are welcome, and not all visitors are physical. Striving to move forward with integrity in all that you do and maintaining your integrity are also highlighted. We are asked to proceed with truth and clarity and remember who we truly are—divine beings sourced from pure, positive energy.

Q5: Week 4 energy: Temperance

This could be a good week to set a budget and stick to it. Practicing frugality is highlighted, as is planning ahead for the future, both financially and otherwise. Looking at the resources you have with gratitude rather than looking at what you don’t have with regret will bring you more of what you appreciate. We are asked to be aware of our vibration this week. Abraham-Hicks notes that sometimes, when we think we are focused on the thing we want, we are actually focused (vibrationally) on its absence. This week, we are guided to call on our allies to help promote greater balance, harmony, and peace in our lives, minds, and hearts. Calling on our allies for assistance is a good supplement to doing the work—of healing, meditation, and any other internal work we are focused on, such as changing our mindset to one of positivity and shifting our expectations to the positive. Know that you are worthy and deserving of everything you desire, and remember that you are a powerful creator who is shaping your reality from moment to moment simply by your focused thought and intention.

Q6: Guidance from the universe for December: Ace of Wands

The Ace of Wands guides us to expect positive outcomes and is a strong indicator of new opportunities, adventures, developments, and manifestations coming to us this month. We are asked not to let anything or anyone distract us or get in our way—not challenges, nor disappointments, nor upsets of any kind. This month, we would benefit from maintaining our focus on our dreams, goals, and desires and taking action toward making them happen when it feels right to take it. When we begin to second-guess ourselves or start to doubt our ideas, we may be killing something beautiful before it ever has a chance to blossom. We may see opportunities where we least expect them this week, and we are asked to be open to possibilities we may never have considered before. This month’s energy supports new beginnings, fresh starts, and creative opportunities.

November: A Reading for the Collective

True to form, the eleventh month of one of the most transformative years in history promises more change. The number eleven represents a gateway energy; the two ones side by side look like a door, and eleven symbolizes the transitory mechanism as one reality transitions into another, or one type of energy transmutes into another, higher form. All of the cards representing the energies for each week in this month are Major Arcana. This tells of karmic, life-changing, and fated events. Some of these events may have to do with our life path, purpose, and soul mission. We can expect powerful changes—sea changes—to happen for us this month. Some may be unexpected, and some may be less than welcome, but know that all is a part of everything working out for your highest good.

Q1: What is the overall energy of November? Seven of Wands

The Seven of Wands is a reminder to stand strong and remain courageous. It tells us that we have what it takes to be victorious as we face any challenges head-on and fight for what we believe in. When we push through, one step at a time, toward our goals, always focusing on the outcome we want and keeping it in mind, we ensure that we are steadily getting closer to achieving our desired results. We can accomplish anything we desire with perseverance, and belief in ourselves is a powerful ingredient that commands our success.

Know that you have what it takes to win any battles and to overcome every challenge, and that you can always draw from the well of inner strength that comes from the magnificent, limitless part of who you really are. And you are never fighting alone; you can always call on your allies in the nonphysical for their support. Your team in spirit is always there for you, but because they cannot interfere with your free will, you have to ask them for their help. Know that you are divinely loved and supported, and you are never alone. Your team of light is always on your side, always loving you, ready and willing to help when you call on them.

Q2: Week 1 energy: The Devil

This card signifies the old structures of control, and the darkness and chaos that is rising to the surface to be cleared. Light is already dominant on our planet, although if we are just looking at what isn’t working, we can miss seeing what is working (and working beautifully). This earth continues on its trajectory, and we stay grounded to it, living our lives and continuing to manifest, create, and seed new desires as we set intentions for improved conditions and continue to co-create a better life and a better world for ourselves and others.

We won’t get what we want by focusing on what we don’t want, and this card is a reminder, together with the Seven of Wands, to summon the great strength and courage that is within every one of us to stay focused on the positive, even in the midst of the darkness. We are asked to always look to the light, to celebrate what is good and joyful and happy. We are asked to keep love in our hearts, to look on others with compassion, and to realize that we are all one. Separation is an illusion. As more and more of us focus on improved conditions and celebrate the beauty in our lives and everything that is worth appreciating, we strengthen and give energy and momentum to the light.

Q3: Week 2 energy: The World

As the final card in the Major Arcana, The World is a card of victory, success, and congratulations. We have been on a journey that may have been long and arduous, and this card shows us reaching a place of enlightenment. This card is a reminder that we are all in this together. When we lift one another up, we rise much faster. Our world is reaching the end of a cycle, and in our own lives, we may see this play out as certain aspects come to a close and new ones begin to flow in. This card represents fulfillment and the mastery of lessons. We have reached new understandings, gained significant wisdom, and have come to know ourselves on deeper and deeper levels. The more we understand ourselves, the better we can understand our place in the world, serve others, and fulfill our life path and purpose in more meaningful, long-lasting ways.

Q4: Week 3 energy: The Chariot

The Chariot showed up for us last month in week 2, and its energy carries over into this month—it’s go time, this card seems to indicate. We are still being guided to stay the course and keep our focus on where we are going, not where we have been, and certainly not on where we don’t want to be. We are being asked to relentlessly keep our eyes on our desired destination so that we can be sure to reach it without straying from the path. Let’s continue to move ahead, move up, move forward, and honor and acknowledge our progress and accomplishments along the way. As we look around us in gratitude, appreciating the things we like about our lives and circumstances, we invite more of that energy—whether abundance, joy, or fulfillment—to flow to us.

This card can also indicate that things are moving quickly. Travel, moving, and transportation may be lining up for some of you. The Chariot hints, too, at opposing forces; we may need to stay strong and stick to our ethics, principles, and ideals yet remain attuned to our intuition so that we are not stubbornly holding onto something that doesn’t actually serve us just because it once did. Part of the process of growth is expanding beyond old beliefs, habits, and ways of thinking and doing, and sometimes that means walking away from what isn’t serving you anymore. It is important to know when to stick to our principles and when to let go of something and expand our minds and our energies into greater awareness. Sometimes this card can indicate a conflict within; the opposing forces may be between old beliefs and new ones coming in. Spending time in thought and in journaling can help you sort it out. When this card relates to willpower, you may need to take control over a situation or circumstances in your life. Like the Seven of Wands—and The Chariot is the seventh card in the Major Arcana—it can be guidance to stand strong and to fight for what you believe in.

Q5: Week 4 energy: The Hermit

After the battle, we go within. The Hermit can be like a healing chamber. This week, we are asked to practice self-care and introspection. Journaling, walks in nature, and time spent in the sun can be beneficial. If the battles we have been fighting this month have been mental or emotional, we need to take time to rest our minds this week and process what we’ve experienced to gain further clarity and understanding. The Hermit is a wise one who represents solitude and inner wisdom. Spending time alone to regroup and gather your thoughts will help you. The Hermit can also represent a guide figure, like a guardian, angel, or guide, and seeing this card can be a nudge or a reminder to call on your allies to assist you with whatever you need, whether that is healing, clarity, or emotional support.

Q6: Guidance from the Universe for November: Queen of Swords

Make no mistake—this queen speaks her mind and she comes to advise us this month to cut through the bull, to speak our minds, and to be done with playing small, once and for all. Those days are past, and we are advised to never, ever look back. She comes to say, remember who you are. Speak your truth. Stand in your light. Stay strong and be relentlessly positive, no matter what you are facing. You have what it takes to succeed in all that you do. Know that you have an inner power you can draw on, and an inner strength the likes of which would amaze you. We are powerful, at the core of who we are, and our power is beyond measure. Rise up in joy, in confidence, and in love, because in those energies is the greatest power of all and the truth of who we are.

October: A Reading for the Collective

If one word could sum up 2020, it’s change. As we enter October, many of us are keenly aware that there are only three months left in the year. Years are energetic containers, which is why we can look back on some years and see prominent themes that applied to that specific year. It is the same with decades—every decade seems to hold its own style, theme, and personality. One of the more enjoyable aspects of doing these monthly readings is analyzing each month and exploring what that particular segment of time, or energetic container, might hold. What’s in store for October? What will the Universe deliver over the next four weeks? Here’s what the cards have to say.

Q1: What is the overall energy of October? Ace of Swords

This month brings clarity, new ideas, and fresh perspectives. We may have breakthrough ideas. Situations that have seemed stuck, blocked, or stagnant will suddenly start moving forward with ease and flow. The floodgates may open and bring a rush of inspiration and movement—energies that The Chariot in week 2 also supports. This month, remain open to inspiration and new ways of looking at things.

Q2: Week 1 energy: The Moon

To facilitate the flow of energy the Ace of Swords heralds, The Moon tells us that we first need to look within and spend time in introspection. Introspective work is the phrase that comes to mind. We are being guided to look closely and see beyond our shadows. Often, when we really look at fears and deeply held beliefs, we realize that the fears are flimsy, mere illusions that do not serve us, and that we have moved beyond some of those deeply held beliefs into new understanding. A close look can reveal things we were not aware we were still holding onto or that we did not realize were there. This awareness allows us to process and release anything not in alignment with our highest good. This is the work—intentionally examining what we need to let go of and replacing it with new thoughts, beliefs, and intentions that do serve us. I can’t becomes I can and I am capable and I am worthy. This is the work that allows us to move forward and makes room for the breakthrough ideas and inspiration that are in the offing throughout the month. The Moon can also bring forth enhanced creative abilities, intuition, imagination, and psychic abilities.

Q3: Week 2 energy: The Chariot

The Chariot represents a fast-moving energy. Hold onto the reins this week and maintain focus as you navigate, course-correcting as needed to ensure you stay on your path. Flexibility and adaptability are crucial factors to succeeding and moving ever-closer to your goals. Realizing that we are always on a path, and the path is never-ending as every place is a stop along the way on an eternal journey, may be key to really rooting into the importance of living in the now and enjoying where you are as much as possible in every moment. When we can find the joy in the moment, we can reach for a continually better-feeling place so that we rise up and allow more good to flow into our lives. Opening up to this joy is key to receiving the good we have been asking for. Finding inner stability, a place of solace, wisdom, and groundedness, a calm center of focus is important when things are shifting and in the face of rapid movement and change. Know when to reach for the still place within, and know that it is a place you can always turn to. The ability to find the joy in the moment is a way of coming into harmony as life’s chariot hurtles onward.

Q4: Week 3 energy: The Empress

The Empress celebrates beauty, creativity, and the pleasures of the material world, and finds joy in abundance. Her power as a leader can be connected to the home or to business. This week, look for themes related to feminine authority and leadership, which can include mothers and maternal figures, mature women, and female business leaders who may impact or influence you in some way. Seeds may sprout this week that you planted earlier; those that do will see growth and favorable outcomes when consistently tended and nurtured with care. This card can sometimes point to opportunities to strengthen relationships with women in your life who fit the role of The Empress; these relationships are well worth tending and yield emotional rewards. The Empress is connected to Venus, indicating that love may be on the horizon or could enter your life this week. Venus is also associated with pleasure and beauty, which may come into fruition this week in some form or another.

Q5: Week 4 energy: Page of Cups

Following on the heels of The Empress, who can represent creativity, the Page of Cups often indicates undeveloped creativity, in the form of potential creative abilities or new ideas in the beginning stages. Cups represent emotions, and pages are young and inexperienced; as such, the Page of Cups can indicate an underdeveloped self-esteem, lack of confidence, lack of boundaries, openness, or being naive. Sometimes, the page can represent a person who embodies these qualities or who is young or inexperienced. This card can point to the need to establish stronger boundaries, trust yourself more, belief in yourself, and quit looking to others for approval or permission. It can also appear when you are relying on others for validation or for happiness. If this is the case, coming back to who you are and strengthening your boundaries and your sense of self is encouraged. When this card indicates creativity and new projects, it can encourage you to develop ideas and talents. This can be done by practicing to further develop and refine skills, and by learning more about a subject. When it comes to new projects and ideas, this card can be encouragement to pursue them and to do what is needed to bring them to the next stage of development. Continually elevating ideas, projects, and talents is done one step at a time, and consistency, focus, and practice help them to bear fruit.

Guidance from the Universe for October: The Magician

The energies this month are generative and supportive of new ideas (the Ace of Swords) and undertakings (the Page of Cups and The Empress). These energies are like fertilizer, and The Magician is us—we are the ones who plant the seeds, water and tend them, and apply the fertilizer to help them grow. As creators of our own realities, we are the architects of our own lives. We call our own shots. With confidence (Page of Cups), and having done the inner work (The Moon), we strengthen our ability to manifest. We get what we expect. If we expect good things to happen to us, they will. If we are strong in the belief that, for example, everything is always working out for us, then it will. The Magician comes to remind us of these truths. Confidence, knowing, belief, and expectation are so powerful, and the Universe is letting us know that these serve us especially well this month. This year has already brought powerful, profound, and deeply life-changing manifestations, and the year is not over yet. We are living in a time of rapid manifestation. That, combined with the knowing that our thoughts create our realities, and that we have the ability to focus our thoughts, and cause energy to flow in the direction of our thinking, is everything we need to know. We always have the ability to write our own destiny, and to rewrite our beliefs simply by choosing our thoughts. The Magician is encouragement from the Universe to make the most of the powerfully supportive energies this month by focusing our will, our thoughts, and our intentions on what we want, and not giving a moment’s thought to what we don’t want.
